Area of responsibility

The Consumer Product Manager – Discovery plays a crucial role in developing the user experience and design for new products and businesses around emerging technologies (e.g. big data, digital, Internet of Things). This person drives design insight, action, and impact on high profile opportunities through creative problem solving, translation of ambiguous ideas into compelling design concepts, and deep understanding of consumer needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead rapid prototyping efforts for digital product features
  • Partner with design team to translate ambiguous directives into creative, compelling design for new product features
  • Manage design research and analysis, drawing actionable conclusions based on end user interactions
  • Organize, analyze, and synthesize inputs from research to inform a consumer journey map
  • Partner with technical teams as an advocate for the consumer experience, contributing to creative problem solving to achieve design goals
  • Collaborate effectively as a team player, facilitating positive energy/engagement
  • Pivot as needed to different workstreams; able to add value with limited knowledge on a topic

Job Qualifications

  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in product management or design roles
  • Empathy for end-users, with clear understanding of how their needs impact product design
  • Prior experience working on digital products (e.g. mobile applications)
  • Experience collaborating effectively with design teams and technical teams to deliver results
  • Ability to gather and analyze evidence to support claims as they relate to design research
  • Excellent communication skills including storytelling, writing, and presentation
  • Strong work ethic with an inherent sense of ownership and responsibility
  • Interested in and conversant about technology
  • Collaborates effectively across organizations
  • Comfortable operating in an ambiguous, "startup-like" environment
  • Strong willingness to learn
  • Bachelor's degree
