As an Adjuster, you will be responsible for investigating, negotiating and settling basic and occasionally moderately complex commercial property or liability insurance claims, including claims involving structure and/or contents losses as a result of fire, water, theft, etc. You will often handle losses that do not require an outside adjuster's inspection and work directly with clients. You will review insurance policy, review reports and photos, evaluate damages, analyze coverage, and authorize payments. You will also deliver compassionate service that is fast, fair, and easy, to ensure customer retention. You will work independently, prioritizing your own responsibilities, and management of your own workload. You will also gain experience and consistently meet band level behaviors, production, quality, and/or customer service goals.

Your Responsibilities Are

Customer Service

To make and maintain a connection with the customer by understanding and meeting their needs while serving the customer with courtesy, and follows up to ensure that customer needs have been met.

Coverage, Liability and Evaluation

Investigate, review, resolve and verify basic and occasionally moderately complex coverage/policy information to include providing coverage explanation to customer.

Damage Estimating

Review/approve repair estimate, prepare damage estimates, organize and reconcile bills, handle contents inventory to include pricing analysis and prepare claims reports, handle inside investigation to mortgagee claims and adhere to applicable compliance standards.

Negotiation and Settlement

Negotiate and settles claims in accordance with business unit standard methodologies.

File Documentation and Reporting

Summarize documents and enters claim system notes, documents claim file with notes, evaluations and decision-making process, and handles first notice of loss of water damage claims.

Other Projects and Responsibilities

May serve on a committee or project as appropriate, participate in one or more basic or special assignments, conducts subrogation investigations, and handles claims involved in appraisal or mediation.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in related field preferred or equivalent experience
  • Property experience highly preferred
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal or external customers and act with compassion
  • Basic knowledge of insurance policy, coverage, regulations, claim processes, policies, procedures, claim systems, coverage, liability, damage estimating, and/or settlement, and adherence to applicable legal compliance standards
  • Basic industry knowledge to discipline practices, including standard methodologies, to support the business unit
  • Knowledge of basic analytical procedures to reconcile, manipulate, and recognize patterns of data
  • Knowledge of standardized problem solving and preparation of basic reports for analysis
  • The ability to utilize learned technical skills in support of team objectives
  • Negotiation and/or arbitration skills, conflict management and problem resolution skills in handling internal and external customer relationships
  • Ability to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle claims
  • Provides individual decision-making within authority limits
  • Has and maintains all appropriate licenses and registrations for the role per state requirements
