Job Description

The main purpose of Enterprise Business Continuity Management (EBCM) is to provide expertise and assistance in risk identification and analysis services to the business areas to ensure preparedness in recovering business processes in the event of a critical incident or a business disruption to normal business operations occurs. The business continuity (BC) Relationship Lead Consultant is the primary business partner to assist AoRs in their BC-related efforts. They share responsibility with the risk consultants within the AoRs to orchestrate planning, response and recovery related to business disruption that will help the individual AoR meet Allstate's BC goals and engage with cross-organizational business areas so the BC planning is comprehensive, practical and inclusive of all dependencies on supporting business areas. The BC Relationship Lead Consultant develop and drive innovative solutions that will support BC strategic objectives that impact department results and improve operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

Execute BC activities across the enterprise:

  • Proactively advises AoRs throughout the entire BCP process in development of BC plans, conducting business impact analyses (BIAs) and completing exercises using strong risk management leading practices that promote resiliency, and align with Allstate's vision and priorities
  • Evaluates capabilities demonstrated during the simulation exercise and advises on opportunities for improvement and in managing unmitigated risks uncovered during exercises
  • Develops and mentors Relationship Consultants in collaborating with AoRs through execution and application of Enterprise BC standards and leading practices to conduct BIAs, develop BC plans and conduct exercises
  • Establishes strategic partnerships with cross-organizational business areas including Continuity Management, Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), Information Security, Physical Security and Supplier Management to improve coordination in planning, response and closing gaps in technology or vendor capabilities
  • Oversees translation of BC planning needs to BC tool administrator to build and maintain BC plan information, better align with Allstate GRC Archer tool standards and leading practices.
  • Engages with AoR Chief Risk Officers to identify and understand risks facing AoRs' operations, escalate issues in achieving BC standards, and agree on solutions to remove barriers to achieve Allstate's overall BC strategy and roadmap.
  • Partners with the AoR Lead Coordinator to inform AoR Senior Leadership and drive action on improvement priorities by developing and presenting metrics dashboard reports and trends that summarize compliance to standards, actions taken, and results to enable decision making at the executive level

Collaborates with the assigned AoRs to advance the EBCM program objectives:

  • Contributes to the development and refinement of Allstate's BCP standards based on insight from the AoRs and supporting business areas
  • Champions adoption of BC standards within AoRs and influences key stakeholders to align to these standards
  • Builds capabilities and understanding of BC processes across AoRs.
  • Identifies root causes of key risks to resiliency and removes barriers or escalates issues
  • Supports the AoR Lead Coordinator in influencing the AoR strategy to incorporate the BCM program roadmap
  • Collaborates on communication strategies within business areas to improve engagement during incidents
  • Represents the EBCM Organization at AoR business meetings

Job Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent work experience
  • Insurance industry experience knowledge/certifications or consulting certifications (i.e. CBCP, CBCI, BPM, Six Sigma, ASQ, Facilitation) is a plus
  • Knowledge and experience in property and casualty (P&C), life products and industry
  • Ability to understand processes end-to-end
  • Ability to think conceptually, analytically and creatively
  • Ability to analyze, develop, and implement business processes
  • Ability to interact with AoR leadership to drive compliance with Allstate's BCP efforts
  • Project management and organization - Engages resources (people, material, support) to eliminate barriers; orchestrates multiple activities to accomplish a business goals and strategies; uses resources effectively and efficiently
  • Must be able to effectively work in a matrix environment and influence both upward and cross-functionally
  • Demonstrate change management skills and experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Strong organizational, communication and administrative skills
