Job Description

AMCS (Allstate Management Consulting Services) is a trusted internal organization providing integrated consulting services to enable our Allstate clients to achieve Our Shared Vision. We leverage enterprise resources to build a stronger business and act as an advisory partner that helps to improve Allstate performance by identifying and analyzing innovative business & technology opportunities, architecting new operating models, designing and improving business processes and providing organizational redesign services. We understand the organization and are able to influence business strategy by partnering with leadership and acting as connectors, bringing the right voices and fact-based information together so that business and technology leaders can make informed decisions that benefit our customers.

This position reports to a Manager and will be responsible for aiding or leading the development and execution of management consulting projects. In addition this resource will be responsible for supporting the development of lower-level team members, aiding in the maintenance of the methodology of the consulting service and cultivating and fostering client partnerships and relationships. This resource should be knowledgeable in the methodology of the consulting service they will be supporting and should be able to help drive business opportunities that benefit Allstate and Allstate's customers.

Key Responsibilities

Develops positive relationships with business and technology partners. Shares information with engagement, project, pursuit, and interfacing teams.

Communicates effectively, delivering information that resonates with the audience. Succinctly articulates key messages orally and in written form.

Intentionally builds their network.

Begin to build deeper knowledge of specific management consulting services, leveraging existing broad knowledge of common management consulting tools and methodologies; understanding how and when to apply them based on the situation and specific needs.

Integrates management consulting functional knowledge and experience with external practices, design principles and business knowledge to form new perspectives and ideas.

Builds on existing understanding of thought leadership, striving for a deeper comprehension of the business, the needs of the customer, and the broader marketplace.

Understands the organization and client goals and the reasons for those goals; articulates linkage between business goals and what that means for organization practices. Participates in solving business problems.

Provides basic to moderate management consultation to help clients achieve sustainable leadership and engagement practices. Participates in client contracting conversations of a basic to moderate nature to ensure client and consultant needs are identified and intended outcomes are understood. Involved with design of solutions and implementation.

Participates in the design of leading edge management consulting services and solutions utilizing broad knowledge, best practices and benchmarking. Contributes to strategic decisions and recommendations.

Provides intermediate-level thought leadership in management consulting space, identifying basic to intermediate client needs. Leverages external research, models and practices and applies it internally to bring thought leadership to the organization.

Key Responsibilities, cont.

Begins to takes a delivery lead role on lower and mid-range complexity projects with coaching by a higher band.

Works with minimal oversight, acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience, and may direct the work of other staff members to conduct research, gather information, and perform analysis and documentation activities in support of consulting initiatives. Applies appropriate methodology.

Develops and employs basic models for decision making.

Applies best practices when summarizing research findings. Reviews and edits prepared materials.

Prepares material for and facilitates interviews, focus groups and workshops with minimal oversight.

Supports and identifies opportunities in innovation and improvements to achieve corporate strategy.

Drafts more complex communications related to the engagement. Designs and presents strategic summaries of analysis and recommendations for multiple audiences, including executive level.

Anticipates and identifies risks and issues that are internal and external to the engagement following the appropriate structured methodology. Documents and tracks resolution of engagement risks and issues. Resolves and escalates risks and issues as appropriate.

Works with team leaders to identify changes to deliverables and scope.

Provides timely communication of project health to engagement leaders.

Shares knowledge, ground rules and perspective with new team members.

Builds, cultivates, and maintains long term relationships.

Identifies opportunities to improve internal team processes or supported business's processes, products, or services.

Supports the achievement of the technology organization and corporate strategy.

Job Qualifications

A bachelor's degree is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is desired but not required. Experience: 5+ years in consulting, business transformation and operating model design, process design, process modeling, systems thinking, change management, and/or project management preferred.
