Job Description

AMCS (Allstate Management Consulting Services) is a trusted internal organization providing integrated consulting services to enable our Allstate clients to achieve Our Shared Vision. We leverage enterprise resources to build a stronger business and act as an advisory partner that helps to improve Allstate performance by identifying and analyzing innovative business & technology opportunities, architecting new operating models, designing and improving business processes and providing organizational redesign services. We understand the organization and are able to influence business strategy by partnering with leadership and acting as connectors, bringing the right voices and fact-based information together so that business and technology leaders can make informed decisions that benefit our customers.

This position reports to a Manager and will be responsible for aiding or leading the development and execution of management consulting projects. In addition this resource will be responsible for supporting the development of lower-level team members, aiding in the maintenance of the methodology of the consulting service and cultivating and fostering client partnerships and relationships. This resource should be knowledgeable in the methodology of the consulting service they will be supporting and should be able to help drive business opportunities that benefit Allstate and Allstate's customers.

Key Responsibilities

Creates a level of client intimacy that reflects knowledge and understanding of the client's organization, business, and needs. Develops positive relationships based on trust with business and technology partners, effectively communicating across teams, departments, business partners, and users. Defines appropriate relationships within the organization to support project delivery.

Communicates effectively in challenging and complex situations. Presents complicated information with efficiency, delivering a message that resonates with the audience.

May coordinate input from business and technology partners and/or initiatives to facilitate the integration of individual program area plans with the overall corporate plan.

Builds greater depth in knowledge of management consulting tools and methodologies in specific areas and understands how and when to apply them.

Integrates management consulting subject matter expertise with external practices, design principles and business knowledge to form new perspectives and ideas.

Contributes to thinking and thought leadership in the internal management consulting community. Contributes to Allstate strategy. Possesses cross-functional awareness; understands the different contributions from other disciplines and work with colleagues from across the organization to achieve better results.

Using a deep understanding of the business, customer needs, and the broader marketplace, provides thought leadership, innovative ideas and direction in support of senior leadership.

Seeks and utilizes relevant functional, business, and technical knowledge to identify and recommend the best solutions for clients. Solves complex problems. Takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.

Provides assumptions for models, interprets results, and reviews and provides feedback to improve the quality of the deliverable.

Applies best practices when summarizing, consolidating, and presenting findings and recommendations. Reviews and edits prepared materials.

Prepares materials for and facilitates interviews, focus groups and workshops.

Leverages and identifies opportunities to apply benchmarking data and industry research.

Understands the business and organization outcomes and drivers of decision making that will influence choice and application of management consulting approach. Helps ensure plans and strategies support organization and business goals. Drives the solving of business problems and implementing strategic change.

Provides mid-level thought leadership in management consulting space, identifying complex client needs. Supports the design of strategies and solutions. Leverages external research, models and practices and applies it internally to bring thought leadership to the organization. Applies systems thinking and rigorous inquiry.

Provides the appropriate form of management consulting to help clients achieve sustainable leadership and engagement practices. Leads client contracting conversations of a moderate to complex nature to ensure client and consultant needs are identified and intended outcomes are understood.

Supports, identifies, and promotes opportunities in innovation and improvements to achieve corporate strategy. Able to evaluate and pursue new business and operational improvement efforts.

Designs and executes interventions, projects, and programs of moderate complexity. Works with clients to capture requirements, restrictions, and areas of flexibility and reviews the process to determine the implications for the organization.

Drafts more complex communications related to the engagement. Designs and presents strategic summaries of analysis and recommendations for multiple audiences, including executive level.

Identifies risks and issues that are internal and external to the engagement and mitigate where possible. Documents and tracks resolution of engagement risks and issues. Resolves and escalates risks and issues as appropriate. Counsels clients and manages the resolutions of issues and monitors client satisfaction of delivery.

Works with team leaders to identify changes to deliverables and scope.

Participates in governance activities for the client.

Provides timely communication of project health to engagement leaders.

Helps manage development of the business case and acceptance of the plan for single or multi-phase, complex projects that span multiple teams or areas.

Provides informal training to specialists and other professionals on the team.

Builds, cultivates, and maintains long term relationships. Manages the expectations of customers. Assists in maintaining contact with software vendors and other groups external to the Allstate organization.

Identifies and implements improvements to internal team processes or to supported business's processes, products, or services.

Supports and identifies opportunities to achieve the technology organization and corporate strategy.

Job Qualifications

A bachelor's degree is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is desired but not required. Experience: 5+ years in consulting, business transformation and operating model design, process design, process modeling, systems thinking, change management, and/or project management preferred.
