Job Description
Under minimal supervision, operates and maintains complex training systems. Participates in the planning, set up, monitoring of performance, and trouble-shooting the key components of the baseline training system. Supports senior operational and technical personnel in support of all phases of exercise events, including participation in planning meetings, preparation for, execution of events, and all follow-up technical activities. Represents Alion in all communications with the customer by being timely, responsive, honest, resourceful, and cool under pressure.
Employ standard operating procedures (SOPs), and examples provided on the engineering website to set up and operate all of the applications used for training events. Where issues with the website are found, bring them to the attention of senior engineers and ask for guidance. Make recommendations where appropriate in ways of improving the SOPs. Prior to each event, study the Core Project Notes to gain a full understanding of the scope and detail regarding what will be required for the events and make plans to ensure the training components will support the needs of the event and develop a detailed plan for how the components will be aligned and configured.

Just prior to exercise start, allow enough time to set up the configuration and allow time to double-check the setup.
Once the customers gather and begin sitting at their stations in the training command, ships pier-side are connected, and shore stations begin to join, they must be brought into play in order of priority. In this position, you will be at the center of this activity and it is very important that you step through all the joining procedures quickly and correctly.
When issues arise, each must be solved by systematic troubleshooting procedures. Many of the issues reoccur, so it is important to record these incidents for future reference to expedite recovery from problems in the future. Reach-back support is available and is to be used liberally in lieu of hindering an event by spending too much time resolving something on your own.
Software and hardware update are updated on a regular basis and this position involves assisting in the distribution of those updates and other software patches to all sites at the Pacific commands.
Track and document issues, keeping Alion colleagues and leadership informed of status, along with customer as appropriate.
Maintain currency in all Alion required training.
Bachelor's degree plus 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience. Degree must be in engineering, computer science, mathematics or a related discipline. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 8 years of applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
Knowledge of engineering principles, methods, and techniques within a specific area of expertise
Knowledge of relevant tools, equipment, hardware, and software.
Effective organization level communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Must be a US Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
