Job Description

The Senior Accountant, Accounting & Reporting is a position in the Record-to-Report (R2R) team and is responsible for supporting the overall accounting, reporting, and related controls and compliance requirements. The position would be one of the divisional points of con-tact in the FSC, with specific responsibilities including: select technical accounting application, month-end closings, financial reporting, balance sheet review / reconciliations, financial controls, and liaison with internal and external auditors as well as other stakeholders.
• Interact with functional areas to support appropriate accounting and financial reporting
•Support ongoing accounting and period-end financial reporting for Alcon US in compliance with IFRS/GAAP
•Collaborate within Alcon US accounting organization and with internal stakeholders, including Alcon US CFO, Alcon US Finance, and Alcon Division / Novartis Group Financial Reporting and Accounting
•Research and respond to cash flow and other inquiries from internal stakeholders
•Identify and implement process improvements in recurring tasks
•Prepare and participate in monthly Balance Sheet Reviews
•Prepare monthly account reconciliations
•Complete tasks in accordance with Company policies and SOX internal controls
•Coordinate deliverables for external accounting authorities and auditors

Minimum requirements

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting and/or Finance required,
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
• Minimum of 2 years directly related experience.

Preferred:
• Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting or Business preferred Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting or Business preferred
• Financial experience, preferably in Big 4 public accounting, and the health care industry
• Significant experience in financial accounting and reporting, auditing and financial process engineering, with record of strong control focus
• CPA strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of IFRS (and GAAP), accounting and financial reporting requirements
• Enterprise systems knowledge (SAP preferred)
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, influencing and management skills
• Demonstrated understanding of key business fundamentals and value drivers
• Demonstrated commitment to Company's beliefs, values and organizational goals
• Possesses unquestioned integrity and strong ethics
