Principle Engineer, Tech Steward Metrology Systems

The Metrology Systems Technical Steward is the principal subject matter expert for all intra ocular lens (IOL) final inspection systems including lens optical performance testing, lens cosmetics and lens dimensional inspection. This person works with R&D, Site Engineering, Site Quality, Site MS&T, Production and external vendors to design, specify, develop, procure, improve and validate optical inspection systems for manufacturing Intra Ocular Lenses (IOLs).

Specifically, this position focuses on 3 main areas of optical, dimensional and cosmetic inspection technology - 1) New Technology/Product Transfers, 2) Improvement of Existing Systems and 3) Maintenance/Troubleshooting of Existing Systems.
Interactions with other departments/positions:
•\tQuality department, Validation lead, and R&D to define R&R testing, Installation and operational qualifications and test method validations for new and revised optical test and metrology systems.
•\tProcess Control Lead to develop process trending tools leading to improved optical, dimensional and cosmetic lens quality.
•\tValidation Lead to ensure optical, dimensional and cosmetic inspection systems are maintained within a validated state.
•\tMS&T Technology Transfer Lead to perform feasibility and capacity analyses for manufacturability assessment of new IOL products with regard to optical inspection and cosmetic inspection equipment.
•\tR&D to evaluate novel metrology instruments and lead addition of new capabilities and technologies.

Minimum requirements
Bachelors Degree in related field and at least 5 years of relevant experience OR 13 years of relevant experience, if no degree.
Also required, experience with optical metrology equipment such as aberrometers, interferometers, etc., Project Management experience, experience with measurement and inspection equipment specifically optical testing (MTF / Power / Surface characterization). experience with vision systems: optical dimensional inspection optical cosmetic inspection.

Preferred qualifications: Masters With specialization in Electrical Engineering or Optics, PMP Certified, •\tDemonstrated experience collaborating and partnering with individuals and teams of varying backgrounds, departments, organizations, etc.•Demonstrated analytical skills and experience in problem solving.•Ability to influence individuals without direct authority.
