HSE Specialist

The role of the Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist is to serve as site HSE Officer, providing oversite of all HSE activities in the facility. The HSE Officer provides necessary support by encouraging and maintaining a safe work environment by ensuring HSE compliance.

Interprets, recommends, and drives compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations and/or company policies. Participates in 6S housekeeping. Assists in planning for changes in physical facilities to meet new environmental requirements and remediate H&S risk. Develop and deliver HSE training. Finds, evaluates, and prepares contracts for properly licensed hazardous waste disposal firms and manages and monitors waste handling. Organizes and equips spill-control teams. Writes and updates environmental and spill-control manuals and procedures. Identifies and evaluates hazardous workplace conditions, takes preliminary samples and measurements of hazardous forces and toxic substances, drives risk control measures for HSE hazards and/or protects employees by recommending, developing and/or initially guarding work procedures, training use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment. Takes effective steps to ensure that all required records are prepared and maintained. Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections and in any procedures that may follow a citation. Investigates, prepares and forwards as required reports on injuries and fatalities. Provide and oversee plant-wide HSE training activities.
