Laser Probes, Accessories, & Hand piece Cable Manufacturing: (Positions Needed: Winter Spring - 1, Summer Fall - 1) Works closely to assist the Manufacturing Engineer with all daily tasks and key projects such as supporting lean implementation, design tooling/fixtures for production assemblies, perform validations of various equipment and processes, analyze assembly procedures to enhance processes, support 5S+1 activities and create alternative solutions to support the production area.

Requirements: Jr./Sr. IE, ME or MFGE.

Vitreoretinal Manufacturing: (Positions Needed: Winter Spring - 1, Summer Fall -1) Works closely to assist Manufacturing Engineers on key projects relating to current production of surgical lasers & Constellation console. The opportunities include: develop and implement solutions to real manufacturing line issues including time/motion studies and layout. Support manufacturing process development with focus on lean principles. Application of engineering theory in multiple disciplines. Mentoring by Manufacturing Engineer. Hands-on experience developing the latest technology in eye surgical equipment.

Requirements: Jr./Sr., IE, EE, BME, ME, GENE. Knowledge of Kan ban and 5-S type improvements helpful. Pro-E aptitude a plus.

Cataract Manufacturing: (Positions Needed: Winter Spring - 1, Summer Fall - 1) Works closely to assist Manufacturing Engineers on key projects relating to current production of Cataract Surgical Instrumentation. The opportunities include: develop and implement solutions to real manufacturing line issues including time/motion studies and layout, electronic circuit and/or fixture/gauge design, root cause evaluation and troubleshooting, and project management. Opportunity for exposure to a variation of supplier processes, including machine shops, optics, suppliers, sheet metal, etc. Support manufacturing process development with focus on lean principles. Application of engineering theory in multiple disciplines. Mentoring by Manufacturing Engineer. Hands-on experience developing the latest technology in eye surgical equipment.

Requirements: BME, IE, ME. Pro-E or Auto cad preferred. Pro-E aptitude a plus.

Hand pieces & Consumables Manufacturing: (Positions Needed: Winter Spring - 1 Summer Fall -1) Work closely to assist the Manufacturing Engineer with all daily tasks and key projects, including designing optimal manufacturing layouts and helping to support new product launches. Generate changes to engineering documentation; resolve non-conforming material issues; support product qualifications; perform mechanical/machine design, electro-mechanical design, and process and material flow analysis including line layout optimization. Support design and implementation projects. Support implementation of LEAN tools and visual management such as 5S and Value Stream Analysis. Support component/equipment/process validation and protocols.

Requirements: Jr./Sr., IE or ME. Experience in mechanical/molding/machine design using Pro-E or Auto cad preferred.

PCB Manufacturing: (Positions Needed, Winter Spring -1) Works closely to assist Manufacturing Engineers on key projects relating to current production of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies. The opportunities include: process development with focus on lean principles, identification and resolution of quality related problems, equipment and/or process improvement, process capability analysis, equipment programming, electronic circuit and/or fixture/gauge design and project management. Application of engineering theory in multiple disciplines. Mentoring by Manufacturing Engineer. Hands-on experience developing the latest technology in eye surgical equipment. Requirements: Jr./Sr., BME, IE, ME, GENE, EE.

Alcon's 10-12 week summer internship program provides real-world work experience to university students. Interns are expected to work 40 hours per week during the length of their internship, unless otherwise specified by their manager.
