Associate Director, Optics Research

Job Description
•Provides leadership and direction to a group of optical engineers and scientists that is accountable for design of best in class intraocular lenses with innovative value-added solutions and for support of existing intraocular lenses.
•Assures efficient intraocular lens optical modeling, design, and testing and selection process consistent with Alcon research and development stage gates.
• Advantages market landscape knowledge to drive internal intraocular lens design and development as well as evaluations of external optical technologies and competitive products.
•Provides creative and innovative solutions to complex optical problems.
•Establishes and periodically reviews pipeline product performance against best in class benchmarks and metrics.
•Works efficiently cross-functionally and with R&D leadership and peers.
•Ensures compliance with Design Control and good documentation practices including product specifications, test plans, and results reporting.
•Ensures ongoing processes for staff acquisition and deployment to project teams, responsible for their professional development, project reviews, and infrastructure development in order to continuously monitor and improve performance.

Minimum requirements •Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)
•Advance degree in Optics/Optical Science or Engineering/Vision Science is preferred
•Experience in designing optics for human vision is preferred
•The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate
•Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
•7 Years of Relevant Experience
•5 Years of Demonstrated Technical Leadership
