Social Scientist & Community Lead for Experience Hosts

This is a rare opportunity to apply social science to build a community from the ground up. Our Experiences Hosts are passionate entrepreneurs and we want to bring them together and make them feel they are part of something bigger.  We want them to feel that they can rely on each other and Airbnb for any support they need.


  • Apply social science to build the framework and strategy for bringing the Experience Hosts all around the world together into an engaged community

  • Run experiments to validate the framework of our Experience Host programs and engagement strategy across all our markets by working closely with local market managers
  • Measure the success of our community engagement efforts and constantly iterate and improve

  • Apply learnings from social science to motivate Experience Hosts and change behavior
  • Provide leadership voice for the Experience Hosts community within the company 

Skills & traits

  • Masters or PhD in the Social Sciences.  Ex: Psychology, Sociology, Behavioral Economics, Organizational Behavior, etc.

  • 3-5 years of experience in building and scaling teams and/or communities 
  • Operational experience: ability to execute complex projects with cross functional teams

  • Ability to design tests and measure outcomes

  • Preference: Social media savvy (note: fb will play big part of mobilizing the community) and experience with creating engaging content
