The Community You Will Join 

Airbnb’s Community Support Platform (CSP) team is a global business unit that provides support to our community of millions of guests and hosts who embark on trips and participate in experiences around the world every year.

The Command Hub Team is at the forefront of this effort, crafting a suite of intelligent tools and solutions designed to empower and automate global CS operations. As we transition to adopting more intelligent solutions, the Command Hub team has created Prompt Studio as the centralized tool in Airbnb to craft LLM (Large Language Model) products.

The full-stack software engineers on this team are responsible for building reusable platform capabilities, such as shared web infrastructure, UI components, storage, evaluation framework, data pipelines, and delivery pipeline. The related services include, but are not limited to, an LLM product development platform (Prompt Studio), Workflow Automation Tool, Rule Evaluation Portal, and User Interface Builder

The Difference You Will Make:

As a senior software engineer, your expertise will be pivotal in developing and optimizing scalable engineering solutions for Airbnb's intelligent support products. You will work closely with many teams of cross-platform engineers, boasting collective expertise in software engineering, machine learning, Conversational AI, and more, to define and shape the future of the Airbnb Community Support experience. You will also partner with product managers, data scientists, and operations teams to leverage engineering innovations to simplify business requirements into scalable solutions.

A Typical Day: 

  • Refine the features with our Product Team, and resolve product trade-offs.
  • Participate in major projects by engaging in the full software development lifecycle, from conceptualizing the architecture design to implementation and testing. 
  • Collaborate with infrastructure engineering team Core Machine Learning team to empower Airbnb LLM products. 
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional partners including product managers, operations and data scientists, identify opportunities for business impact, understand and prioritize requirements for machine learning systems and data pipelines, drive engineering decisions and quantify impact.
  • Support teammates in enabling code quality, operational excellence, and shared learning.

Your Expertise:

  • 5+ years industry engineering experience
  • BS, MS or PhD in CS or related field
  • Strong programming (Python/Java) and data engineering skills
  • Understanding of data structures and problem solving approaches, and ability to articulate trade offs
  • Strong expertise building and maintaining high-performance, scalable and fault-tolerant backend systems.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and ownership of problem definitions
  • Strong collaboration and communication abilities, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Industry experience on building end-to-end Machine Learning products is a big bonus
  • [Bonus] Experience working with GraphQL and REST APIs

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
