Regional Business Development Manager - DACH

Airbnb is a fast-growing, online marketplace giving everyday people the ability to monetize their most valuable asset: an extra bedroom, their primary residence when out for a weekend, vacation rental, airbed, castle, boat, tree house or trailer.

This Regional Business Development Manager DACH - Southern Germany will focus on the overall supply health of a group of Airbnb markets starting with Bavaria and the Black Forest and hence two of the top German travel destinations. The role will report to the Host & Community Operations Territory Lead for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Central & Eastern Europe. The market manager role has the critical responsibility of significantly growing the number of high-quality listings that are available all year long in key travel destinations within their targeted set of Airbnb markets. The market manager will further develop Airbnb’s network of hosts and increase the quality of our existing supply in the region.

Responsibilities:

Business Ownership

  • Ownership of overall supply health of an entire region in a competitive environment
  • Responsible for setting, executing, and iterating targeted in-market strategies
  • Identifies and drives scalable and attributable levers to reach objectives and key results
  • Provides and channels up key learnings to the local / territory, regional and global team

Acquisition and Account Management

  • Drives targeted acquisition of volume hosts
  • Supports scalable acquisition programs, such as API partnership launch events, field sales and affiliates
  • Manages key accounts to improve availability, business performance, and quality of volume hosts
  • Coordinates with Market Coordinator team for account management support

Strategic Market Development

  • Identifies key barriers/levers that can have a significant impact on a locally relevant set of target destination markets and work with stakeholders such as Public Policy, Comms, Marketing, Product, and Legal
  • Establishes partnerships with key local influencers who can drive supply such as Destination Marketing Organizations (DMO) and Property Managers
  • Organizes in-market events and webinars to onboard or educate hosts
  • Engages potential partners and hosts at key industry events through public speaking opportunities along with actively attending relevant market trade shows or events in tier 1 markets
  • Is the internal and external point of contact for the targeted set of markets

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree or higher in a relevant field of study (e.g. business administration, or tourism & travel management)
  • 3-5 years professional experience in sales or startup-type environments
  • Excellent communication, presentation, sales and negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of and experience in the vacation rental and travel industry
  • Analytical abilities to identify high-impact opportunities and objectively evaluate projects (SQL knowledge and advanced Excel skills are a strong plus)
  • Experience working cross-functionally with product, public policy and marketing teams
  • Can represent the Airbnb tone and brand in public-facing communications
  • Proven track record as a self-starter who can execute in an ambiguous environment
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and ever changing startup environment
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Passion for Airbnb, travel, and the sharing economy.  Being a host on Airbnb is a plus!
