Public Policy Campaign Coordinator

This role is a fixed-term contract with Airbnb Japan K.K., until the end of 2018

The Japan public policy team advocates on behalf of Airbnb’s community with governments, regulators and a wide range of other external stakeholders. We are involved in direct negotiations with governments; strategic partnerships with government agencies and NGOs; major events and projects; research and data analysis, and grassroots community organising.

With so much going on in so many places, we need an organisational and administrative superhero to keep everyone on the right track.You need to be meticulously organised and detail-oriented, but can also see the big picture and make judgements about priorities whenever needed. You are target-focused and find the fastest, most efficient way to get to our destination.You’re a great team player without ego, who is willing to take on projects big and small.You’re capable of working in cross-functional teams across cultures and - sometimes - timezones.You have excellent communication skills and an ability to take big ideas and translate them into actions. You can quickly navigate new and unfamiliar systems and processes - and design your own.


  • Acting as “air traffic control” for the Japan’s public policy team - ensuring that deadlines for reporting and tracking are being communicated and met and that calendars and planners are updated;
  • Tracking budgets and expenditure in our central systems - creating and managing purchase orders, invoices and regular reports;
  • Daily advanced calendaring and meeting preparations (meeting agendas, conference/video call meeting setups, etc.) for Japan’s Public Policy Manager and the wider team;
  • Assisting in the preparation of documents, presentations and spreadsheets to high level of quality and accuracy;
  • Coordinating communication between the team and the wider global policy team;
  • Building effective relationships with other teams within Airbnb as necessary;
  • Support other department responsibilities - organising events, managing contracts, staffing meetings - as necessary.


  • 2-3 years of relevant experience , including supporting executives in an administrative capacity
  • Strong work ethic and interpersonal skills - always displaying professionalism, courtesy and a sense of humour, even when under pressure;
  • Outstanding pro-active and multi-tasking abilities;
  • Acute attention to detail and follow through, and are very organised;
  • Proven track record of effective project management;
  • Effective communicator, both orally in writing;
  • Exhibit strong process-oriented skills and strive to find the most efficient way to do things without sacrificing a high quality of work and/or results;
  • Ability to exercise judgment and maintain confidentiality;
  • Advanced IT skills (Powerpoint, Keynote, Excel, Google Apps) and current social networking systems - and a capacity to learn new and unfamiliar applications;
  • Passion for trying, learning, improving, and sharing best practices;
  • Flexible, with the ability to remain poised under pressure.
  • This role requires native fluency in Japanese and business fluency in English










  • 日本のパブリックポリシー担当チームの「航空管制官」として、結果報告や経過報告の期限を伝え、締め切り厳守を確かめ、カレンダーやプランナーを更新する。

  • 総務の役員アシスタントなど、関連分野で2~3年の職務経験。
  • 職務に対する倫理意識が高く、対人スキルに優れている。プレッシャーに晒されてもプロフェッショナルな態度を崩さず、礼儀正しく、ユーモアのセンスを忘れない。
  • 細かいところによく気がつき、最後まできっちりフォローする。整理上手。
  • プロジェクトマネジメントを効率的にこなした実績がある。
  • 口頭でも書面でも、連絡に無駄がない。
  • プロセスを重視するスキルが高く、仕事や結果の質を落とさない範囲で最も効率のいいアプローチを見い出そうとする。
  • 頭で考えて実行する能力に優れている。機密は漏らさない。
