The Communications team is responsible for telling the Airbnb story around the world. Whether it's speaking to media and bloggers, hosts and guests, industry commentators, thought leaders or the wider community, the Communications team is the voice of Airbnb. This position is a temporary role and will be based in San Francisco and will support our global communications and policy teams by conducting research to advance our goals and support our campaigns. You must have experience conducting public records research and be comfortable working on time-sensitive and rapid-response projects while maintaining high levels of accuracy and quality. Experience in politics, government or campaigns is strongly preferred. We are looking for effective and creative team members who are enthusiastic about using research to help the Airbnb community.

Responsibilities
- Conduct news, open data and public records research to advance global goals and strategies
- Develop and maintain comprehensive news and public records tracking systems and databases
- Draft and copy edit written materials—reports, press releases, blog posts, briefing memos, press pitches, talking points, and other public affairs content
- Support media requests with research and work with appropriate team members for follow up as needed
- Perform certain repetitive functions to support the company and department
- Complete other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in communications, politics, public policy, public affairs or public records research
- Comfort navigating, formatting, and analyzing large amounts of news and data
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with writing samples to share
- Experience writing memos and reports to summarize your findings
- Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy and quality of work
- Ability to quickly learn about policy environments and regulatory frameworks
- Exhibit strong process-oriented skills and strive to find the most efficient way to do things
- Passion for trying, learning, improving, and sharing best practices
- Flexible, with the ability to remain poised under pressure
- Enthusiasm for Airbnb and the mission of the company
- Bachelor’s Degree or greater
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of public records research tools and sources, especially digital news archives, court records, legislative records, government datasets and regulatory filings
- Expertise with campaign finance, lobbying, and ethics disclosures
- Advanced computer skills, especially Excel, and basic SQL
- Passion for news, data and politics
