PR Manager, Spain

This position will be based in Airbnb’s Barcelona office, where you will work closely with our European and International Communications teams reporting to the EMEA PR Lead based in London. You will contribute to our overall communications strategy and be responsible for PR activities in Spain, delivering regular positive campaigns and messages to key media and helping to shape positive public opinion for Airbnb.  You will have exceptional relationships with consumer and lifestyle media and can leverage these contacts to drive extensive positive coverage to support the public affairs strategy.  You will work in close collaboration with the Public Affairs manager to ensure all activities and campaigns are closely aligned for maximum effectiveness.

You must be comfortable with and have experience communicating directly with journalists; managing consumer-targeted campaigns and agencies; and developing strategic communications plans and materials to a wide range of media from trade, business and consumer and different mediums including broadcast, print and online. We are looking for an effective and creative communicator who has the ability to explain complex ideas in simple ways and who likes multitasking as much as working in a multi-cultural team. You will preferably have had experience at working in both a fast paced PR agency environment and in a challenging in house communications role

  • Develop the PR strategy for Spain and direct and manage all campaigns and PR activities  - to include consumer, celebrity, lifestyle and corporate activities
  • Co-manage the Spain PR agency with the public affairs manager on a day to day basis - prioritising and guiding work flow and fielding press office enquiries
  • Contribute and collaborate with the European and Global communications team
  • Work closely with the local Spanish team including the country manager and public policy teams
  • Develop written materials, story pitches, messaging guidelines, press releases and presentations
  • Work with company spokespeople to prepare them for public speaking engagements, media interviews etc


  • 8-10 years experience in Public Relations
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience running PR campaigns in Spain, both at a local level in Catalonia as well as nationally
  • Strong media contacts in Barcelona and Madrid
  • Experience managing projects in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Unwavering verbal communications skills in any situation
  • Maintaining enthusiasm and calm demeanor in stressful situations
  • Ability to work with international teams and quickly develop an understanding for cultural differences
  • Passion for Airbnb and the mission of the company
  • Experience managing agency partners
  • Fluent in Spanish, Catalan and English
