Airbnb’s Marketing organization are storytellers, creators and relentless community champions, responsible for sharing the Airbnb love around the world by creating magical, memorable, shareable experiences that inspire and grow our community.

We are recruiting a Global Marketing Communications (Marcom) Lead based in San Francisco and reporting into the Director, Global Brand Marketing, to nurture and lead a team, that, together with internal and external creative partners, will plan, conceive, execute and deliver multi-touchpoint, integrated campaigns that are the most creative and admired of their kind worldwide, and that help us reach our lofty business and brand ambitions.

The individual in this role will have a proven track record of delivering provocative, disruptive creative content with deep local relevance and global resonance across advertising, social, experiential and digital, and will be comfortable with analytics, with a focus on developing and sharing learnings consistently.

S/he will also have successfully led large, multi-cultural teams with a combination of emotional intelligence, inspiration and coaching. And collaboration will be his / her strong point—with functions as wide and varied as: Media / Connections, PR/Comms, Product Marketing / Product, Strategy & Insights, Growth Marketing, a variety of business / operations disciplines, and critical support functions such as Legal and Human Resources, among others.


  • Define marketing communication and content strategy for Airbnb, and lead a team and cross-functional partners and agencies to execute campaigns with unparalleled strategic and creative excellence.
  • Establish the world's most admired creative agenda. Nurture and ensure optimal internal and external resources for creative, design and storytelling needs.
  • Create an environment of high impact, high energy cross-departmental and cross-market collaboration to create campaigns that meet brand and business goals in key markets globally.
  • Develop processes and systems for operational excellence, delivering world-class production planning, maximizing efficiencies, and delivering campaigns on time, and on budget
  • Create the vision and strategies for specific MarComms disciplines, such as social and experiential, but also horizontal integration across the functions in MarComms and beyond for a future in which each function feeds the success of the other and altogether culminate in an optimal consumer journey.


  • Passion for all things Airbnb. Experience hosting on the site is a huge plus.
  • 15+ years of relevant work experience in advertising, experiential and overseeing a global social media presence, with an exciting portfolio of past campaigns/content/creative projects at highly awarded integrated, interactive or advertising agencies and/or experience of marketing creatively-awarded iconic brands
  • Exceptional ability to lead, influence and work across organizational boundaries with a strong track record building excellent relationships with a broad range of peers and executives
  • A passion for storytelling and ability to establish a strategic vision and editorial perspective to deliver differentiated, compelling content
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills; able to articulate a vision, strategy, idea and decisions clearly and succinctly
  • Solid experience in developing objectives, KPIs, hypotheses for testing, and analyzing results
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, working within tight deadlines, adjusting to changes in priorities, and balancing short term needs with long term strategic initiatives.
  • Experience working in global teams and communicating across national boundaries; experience managing multiple agencies a plus
  • Willingness to regularly travel domestically and internationally
