Consumer Insights Manager


The Consumer Insights Manager will report to the Global Director Consumer Insights and Brand Strategy and be based in San Francisco, CA. S/he will be an integral part of our Global Marketing team and responsible for providing strategic, research-led insights that guide how we reach and expand our growing community of hosts and guests. The ideal candidate will combine cultural curiosity, empathy and rigorous analytical skills, uncovering opportunities to build meaningful relationships with consumers. This role will sit within the Global Consumer Insights and Brand Strategy team but will require collaboration with teams across the organization including Brand Marketing, Product Marketing and Product Growth.


  • Lead global, qualitative consumer research projects including research design, survey and discussion guide development, participant recruitment, fieldwork, analysis and reporting
  • Provide a view of consumers that allows others to understand, empathize with and design new ways to meet their needs
  • Create well-crafted, inspiring presentations that clearly communicate research findings and illuminate most valuable insights
  • Select and manage partnerships with external research vendors, defining project scope, managing budgets and ensuring execution and delivery is on-time and high value
  • Become an indispensable resource to the regional marketing leads, understanding the similarities and differences across countries and executing research on behalf of local teams


  • 8+ years of relevant experience working in areas of consumer or cultural research
  • In-depth knowledge of market research methodologies, including writing screeners, interviewing techniques, applying quality standards, including sample selection
  • Innately a global citizen - open to international travel and working out of regional offices
  • Effective written, storytelling, verbal and presentation skills; with ability to confidently present to cross-functional and global teams
  • Experience working outside the U.S. and/or language skills are a plus
  • Proven ability to work within a self-directed culture and navigate ambiguity
  • A passion for all things Airbnb - building community, fostering a culture of creativity and empathy
