Market Development Manager

The role of Market Development Manager is to collaborate with Partner Services Teams in his/her assigned markets to grow market share, deliver business targets, with particular focus on ensuring competitiveness on rates & availability. 

In addition, the individual would work cross-department to ensure proper coordination of marketing activities and systems development to support his/her markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Country Directors to set and deliver business targets in a set of countries
  • Define focus segments/routes and develop attack plan, combining the efforts of Partner Services Team by country with Marketing levers
  • Track closely performance metrics, and drivers of the business for own markets.  Propose improvement plans and ‘experiments’ to run to drive growth and profitability
  • Identify & prioritize issues impacting performance (esp. with respect to rate/availability competitiveness) and work closely with Partner Services Team to address, providing analytical support and coaching as necessary
  • Coordinate with Operations team to ensure processes are in place to obtain proper market intelligence
  • Track competitive dynamics in the markets, spot trends to inform strategy
  • Investigate and prioritize issues raised by country teams, and work across different departments to resolve
  • Visit Partner Service Teams and participate in conversations with Accommodations Partners to understand nature of each market
  • Seek out and share knowledge / best practices across different markets, roll out scalable solutions
  • Work closely with performance marketing & brand marketing functions to coordinate push for focus segments/routes, monitor outcomes and iterate
  • Support decision making on selection/prioritization of marketing channels by route
  • Verify, analyze, and understand available data and reports; work with Product and Data team to ensure actionable data and reports
  • Provide regular updates on own market performance to Senior Management Team
  • Support the overall strategic thinking for Market Development function
  • Support key projects in Partner Services Team, Marketing, or other departments as needed
