Vice President of Global IT Operations

We are working on an executive search to find a Vice President (VP) of Information Technology, who will report directly to the CTO for our client company. The VP of IT’ s role is to plan, coordinate, direct, and design all operational activities of Global Infrastructure & Operations (GIO), as well as provide direction and support for IT solutions that enhance mission-critical business operations. This individual will collaborate directly with the executive management team and decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.

You will be responsible for the following:

Strategy & Planning:

  • Participates in strategic and operational governance processes of the business organization as a member of the GIO senior management team;
  • Leads IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization;
  • Develops and maintains an appropriate IT organizational structure that supports the needs of the business;
  • Establishes IT departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures;
  • Ensures IT system operation adheres to applicable laws and regulations; and
  • Directs development and execution of an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plan.

Acquisition & Deployment:

  • Identifies opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT systems and resources, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and in-house development;
  • Develops, tracks, and controls the information technology annual operating and capital budgets;
  • Reviews hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts and pursues master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale;
  • Assesses and makes recommendations on the improvement or re-engineering of the IT organization;
  • Keeps current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and prices; Advises, counsels, and educates executives and management on their competitive or financial impact;
  • Promotes and oversees strategic relationships between internal IT resources and external entities, including government, vendors, and partner organizations; and
  • Supervises recruitment, development, retention, and organization of all IT staff in accordance with corporate budgetary objectives and personnel policies.

Operational Management:

  • Acts as an advocate for the organization’ s IT Operations vision via regular written and in-person communications with the organization’ s executives, department heads, and end users;
  • Assesses and communicates risks associated with IT investments;
  • Develops business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives;
  • Coordinates and facilitates consultation with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations;
  • Ensures continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of IT systems performance;
  • Defines and communicates corporate plans, policies, and standards for the organization for acquiring, implementing, and operating IT systems; and
  • Approves, prioritizes, and controls projects and the project portfolio as they relate to the selection, acquisition, development, and installation of major information systems.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • 15+ years of experience managing and/or directing an IT operation in an enterprise environment
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution
  • Experience in global operations
  • Considerable knowledge of business theory, business processes, management, budgeting, and business office operations
  • Substantial exposure to data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications, and outsourced systems, including Stratus, File Transfer software, HSM, SalesForce, telephony, Help Desk, Desk Side Support and NOC Operations
  • Good understanding of computer systems characteristics, features, and integration capabilities
  • Experience with systems design and development, from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management
  • Proven experience in IT planning, organization, and development
  • Excellent understanding of project management principles
  • Superior understanding of the organization’ s goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations to include demonstrated expertise in PCI
  • Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures
