Database Engineer

Skills: SQL Server 2005, 2008 (2012 a major plus), Oracle 10g/11g/12c or other RDBMS, performance tuning, T-SQL, PL/SQL

The Database Engineer will work as part of the Architecture and Data Management Team to build efficient and scalable database solutions for transactional applications as well as reporting and analysis. 

Our Database Engineer Consultants will be key contributors to the improvement of database systems for our clients by conducting routine performance analysis and applying optimization to database configurations or underlying SQL code, which will then be applied to the production system after testing. 


  • Develop, implement and package database designs and updates for application releases in a mixed database environment
  • Experience with any major RDBMS is ok (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, SQlite)
  • Perform database and query performance reviews, and implement changes 
  • Stand up, manage and support production, development and test databases environments
  • Analyze current databases for performance opportunities (performance monitoring) 
  • Install, configure and upgrade Microsoft SQL Server, Teradata or Oracle software instances 
  • Develop and maintain documentation and development standards 
  • Implement performance optimizations through lower regions and package for deployment to production


  • 4+ years in IT data-related fields including Database Administration, ETL Development, SQL Development or similar 
  • 4+ years working as a DBA or Database Engineer with focus on Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle RDBMS, Teradata, or some combination of all 
  • 3+ years in PL/SQL or Transact-SQL 
  • 3+ years with Oracle 10g+ or Microsoft SQL Server (versions 2005 and higher) SQL Development or Database Administration in Development or Test Environments 
  • Prior experience with configuration and change and release management using standard tools 
  • Detailed knowledge of relational database administration systems in general 
  • Advanced knowledge of PL/SQL, Transact-SQL, physical database design, and performance tuning 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field of engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
