Responsibilities

Do you understand GPS? Everybody else takes this for granted but you understand it? Help maintain the time and frequency reference standards that are the backbone of today's society. Contribute to the development of the next generation of GPS satellites and other time/frequency standards applications. In your "spare" time, support the development, analysis and evaluation of advanced space and ground-based microwave and millimeter-wave payload systems through both RF circuit analysis and hardware test and measurement.

This position can be filled as an Aerospace Senior Member of Technical Staff or Engineering Specialist

Key Functions

  • Perform analyses and laboratory measurements to support timekeeping and time/frequency standards activities and program related issues
  • Support the development of advanced microwave payloads by application of circuit analyses and hardware testing
  • Perform budget and circuit simulations of microwave components, and systems
  • Work as an individual or as a team member on analytical and experimental studies to solve microwave hardware anomalies
  • Document work products in briefings and/or technical reports to customers and colleagues
  • Interface with Aerospace internal and external customers, and external contractors for the exchange of technical information
  • Candidate will work on a diverse set of projects. It is very important to be hands-on, willing to learn and be comfortable in working in an environment with engineers of diverse backgrounds and expertise
  • High motivation with proficiency to learn and carry out tasks with guidance/leadership of experienced staff


Qualifications

Required
  • Master of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or another related field
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with an emphasis on time/frequency standards and analog/RF circuits
  • Experience base in analysis, hardware measurements, and operation of time/frequency standards
  • Experience base-simulation and hardware--in analog/RF circuits such as PLLs
  • Experience with ADS or Microwave Office, MATLAB
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Complete assigned tasking with minimal supervision
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance


Preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SSBI access


Required for Consideration as an Engineering Specialist
  • More than 5 years of work experience since obtaining a master's or Ph.D. degree
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with small teams
  • Complete assigned tasking with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to build perform time/frequency standards research and development
  • Experience base in analysis, hardware measurements, and operation of time/frequency standards
  • Experience base-simulation and hardware--in analog/RF circuits such as PLLs
  • Experience with ADS or Microwave Office, MATLAB
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
