Responsibilities

The Cyber Operations and Resilience Department (CORD) provides technical support in researching and engineering cyber solutions for Aerospace internal and external customers in all segments of national security space and strategic mission systems. Responsibilities for this role includes support across multiple functional areas to include ground network and space-based systems for multiple mission partners. Mission partners include Air Force Space Command, Space and Missile Systems Center Directorates, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, the National Nuclear Security Administration, and Civil Agencies.

Key Functions

  • Assist customers by providing cybersecurity expertise in support of critical decision points and provide ground truth assessments of organizational security activities and posture
  • Review of cybersecurity test procedures for requirements satisfaction, participation in test readiness, and witness test events
  • Assist in development of mitigating courses of action and creation of comprehensive strategies to include system design modifications
  • Participate in risk management activities to ensure cybersecurity risks are evaluated and mitigations applied in accordance with security directives
  • Participate in Defensive Cyberspace Operations (DCO) planning and implementation to include development of tools and associated testing
  • Proactively support program management of multiple projects and facilitate in-depth working groups to identify credible threats, relevant vulnerabilities, and assess operational impacts
  • Closely collaborate with Aerospace, Government, other Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs), contractors, and mission partner representatives


This position can be filled as a Systems Engineer - Cyber Security or a Sr. System Engineer - Cyber Security

Qualifications

Required for Systems Engineer - Cyber Security
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cyber Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
  • 8 or more years of experience in cyber operations, systems engineering and/or cybersecurity including developing and/or performing system architecture, requirements engineering, verification, test, and risk management across the acquisition life cycle
  • Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies and experience working with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and experience implementing security controls
  • Demonstrated ability to interact well and provide technical support in multi-program, multi-agency environments with government, engineering support and contractor personnel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required as well as the ability to speak authoritatively when appropriate and to support assertions with data and experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.


Required for Sr. Systems Engineer - Cyber Security:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cyber Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline
  • 12 or more years of experience in cyber operations, systems engineering and/or cybersecurity including developing and/or performing system architecture, requirements engineering, verification, test, and risk management across the acquisition life cycle
  • Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies and experience working with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and experience implementing security controls
  • Demonstrated ability to interact well and provide technical support in multi-program, multi-agency environments with government, engineering support and contractor personnel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required as well as the ability to speak authoritatively when appropriate and to support assertions with data and experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. US citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.


Preferred
  • An advanced degree and/or cybersecurity certification(s)
  • Experience with program protection, network security, threat and vulnerability analysis, and/or cross domain solutions
  • Operational experience in space-related systems such as GPS, SBIRS, MILSATCOM, AFSCN, or Space Launch
  • Familiarity with the nuclear enterprise (such as Department of Energy, NNSA, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Sandia National Labs, etc.)
  • Experience with big data analysis and intelligent systems
  • Experience with developing or analyzing cyber threat intelligence products, with the ability to translate analysis to senior leadership
  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance
