Responsibilities

The Aerospace Corporation's Structural Dynamics Department offers challenging positions for engineers interested in the structural design and analysis of launch vehicles, upper stages and satellites. The department is involved in the formulation of design requirements, the design process, the test and analysis verification process, and day-of-launch activities. This position is in the launch vechicles group.

Key Functions

  • Perform structural dynamic analyses and evaluations of launch vehicle and spacecraft loads during all phases of flight
  • Conduct analyses and investigations to solve a broad range of structural dynamics problems requiring advanced treatment and/or coordination within the department and with other technical disciplines
  • Provide technical support and expertise to program offices and external customers in the area of structural dynamics
  • Prepare reports and deliver oral presentations as needed


This position can be filled as a Member of Technical Staff or a Senior Member of Technical Staff.

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific related field with at least two years of structural dynamics experience
  • Experience with finite element model development techniques, frequency response and transient loads analysis procedures, and dynamic model formulation procedures
  • Experience with NASTRAN
  • Experience applying computational techniques to the solution of problems in structural dynamics
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.


Preferred
  • Experience with time series data analysis and mode survey test procedures
  • An advanced degree in an engineering or scientific related field


Required for Senior Member of Technical Staff
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or scientific related field with at least five years of structural dynamics experience
  • Experience with finite element model development techniques, frequency response and transient loads analysis procedures, and dynamic model formulation procedures
  • Experience with NASTRAN
  • Experience applying computational techniques to the solution of problems in structural dynamics
