Responsibilities

The Software Engineering candidate will support the GPS/OCX Systems Engineering Integration and Test department providing software engineering expertise, technical evaluations, and assess deliverables to ensure program requirements are met and satisfy Mission Assurance criteria. The candidate will work with the AF customer, contractor, Aerospace ETG, government, SE&I, and other FFRDCs. The selected candidate will demonstrate inter-organizational and inter-personal relationship skills. They will also have experience working both independently and as part of a team.

This position can be filled as a Level 2: Software Engineer or as a Level 3: Sr. Software Engineer.

Key Functions
  • Provide broad software engineering support, technical assessments and recommendations in GPS ground control software integration and deployment of the OCX ground control segment including: software and systems engineering, software development, interfaces, and release/configuration management
  • Provide software engineering expertise to assess program requirements development, requirements verification & validation, support technical interchange meetings
  • Provide technical assessments of software deployments
  • Support architecture and design, modeling and simulation, RMA analysis and HSI integration
  • Support software engineering and integration risk mitigation evaluations using industry best practices, methods and tools
  • Evaluate contractor software designs to ensure functional and performance requirements are testable, FOSS and COTS integration, and obsolescence mitigation
  • Evaluate software and platform test automation strategies of common infrastructure, services, and virtual environments


Qualifications

Required Qualifications Level 2: Software Engineer
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software or Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other Engineering / analytical discipline from a recognized institution
  • 8 years of related engineering or scientific experience that includes space-related ground and/or flight systems
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Agile development methods and metrics, DevOps, FOSS/COTS integration, cloud computing and/or Amazon Web Services for large software systems
  • Experience with software engineering process, requirements development, interface management, test, program performance metrics
  • Experience developing technical reports and delivering technical briefings
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain is required
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as necessary


Required Qualifications Level 3: Software Engineer
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software or Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other Engineering / analytical discipline from a recognized institution
  • 12 years of related software engineering/scientific experience that includes space-related ground and/or flight systems
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Agile development methods and metrics, DevOps, FOSS/COTS integration, cloud computing and/or Amazon Web Services for large software systems
  • Experience with software engineering process, requirements development, interface management, test and verification, program performance metrics
  • Experience developing technical reports and delivering technical briefings
  • Project and team leadership experience
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain is required
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as necessary


Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with SMC and DoD programs and experience working with FFRDC/Government and Ops user community
  • Working knowledge of satellite Ground Control Systems and satellite control segment operations
  • Experience with Ground control software Integration/Test and verification
  • Advanced technical degree
