The Aerospace Corporation has a long history of support to intercontinental ballistic missile programs. The Nuclear Operations Directorate continues to support the Air Force's nuclear mission by providing lifecycle expertise in nuclear surety, systems engineering and integration, systems acquisition, vehicle systems engineering, re-entry systems, communications, command and control systems engineering, advanced technologies and future systems engineering.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
This position provides technical and program management support to USAF organizations on nuclear surety operations and system engineering functions. Responsibilities include providing nuclear surety and mission assurance oversight, systems engineering, integration, and detailed technical analyses of on-going and proposed modifications and upgrades to the Minuteman III weapon system, and weapon system integration within the Minuteman III sub-systems, NC3 systems, and new acquisitions to include the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) to ensure key performance parameters are met.
Ensures modifications and upgrades are properly documented, reviewed, and tested to ensure compliance with weapons system requirements, design constraints, national nuclear policy, nuclear surety, and support the development and assessment of new or enhanced capabilities and ICBM Systems Directorate acquisitions to include Ground Based Strategic Deterrent. In addition, the position will assess existing, new and emerging processes for effectiveness and improvements. This position requires coordinating with Government engineering management, Aerospace management and Aerospace personnel supporting nuclear surety and nuclear operations to ensure maximum utility and benefit to all nuclear operations customers.
Bachelor's degree in an engineering, science, computer science, computer information systems, or mathematics from an accredited institution.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Exhibits exceptionally high level of initiative, innovation, and discipline
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers. Nuclear Surety, Nuclear Certification, Nuclear Weapons Safety, Systems Engineering, and Mission Assurance background and expertise required.
Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with government customers from junior grade to general officer level is required. Widely recognized internally and externally by peers, management, program office, contractors, and the Air Force
Secret clearance (Successful candidate must be able to obtain a DoD Top Secret SCI clearance)
22 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environments
Nuclear Command and Control, Cryptologic Device Certification, Supply Chain Risk Assessment, Cyber Security, Risk and Vulnerability Analysis, Nuclear Weapons Systems Safety, ICBM Code Processing Systems, and Unauthorized Launch Analysis experience is highly desired.
Advance degree in applicable science or engineering discipline
