Summary
Lead Aerospace in the collaboration with customers, contractors and counterparts to drive innovative solutions to challenges in mission payload development, design, build, integration, test and mission operations for resilient space applications. Identify mission specific risk reduction activities, instill innovative mission assurance practices and integrate Aerospace expertise into customer programs on timelines that require rapid assessments and sound judgement. This position provides opportunities for networking across the national security space community and for briefing senior leaders within Aerospace and Customer organizations on the Aerospace contributions to the Program. Key Functions
Serve as the Senior Mission Payload Engineer for assigned missions and collaborate to identify mission challenges and drive innovative solutions during payload design, development, integration, test and on-orbit operations
Identify and qualify mission payload risks to program execution and coordinate courses of action with government customers and contractors to address identified risks
Develop innovative opportunities for Aerospace capabilities to be used for payload and program risk reduction
Lead cross-disciplinary teams across the Aerospace backplane to assess technical requirements and analyze end-to-end system capabilities
Lead and/or participate in cross-program Aerospace teams in support of mission payload capability assessments
Utilize the Aerospace Engineering Support Matrix to model, assess and/or trend performance of critical mission payload systems
Establish and track resource allocations for Aerospace efforts in support of assigned missions
Facilitate communication and lead discussions with management and the customer on topics related to the mission payload development, risks and capabilities
Required
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, science or mathematics from an accredited institution
Direct experience with payload or other subsystem design, development, integration, test and/or on-orbit operations
Demonstrated ability to make significant contributions in a collaborative environment and in teams with government customers, contractor and SETA personnel
Proven ability to identify key technical risks, qualify appropriate level of attention and coordinate sound courses of action in support of program execution
Significant knowledge and experience utilizing capabilities of matrixed engineering organizations
Superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills interacting will all levels of an organization
Ability for occasional travel within the US
This position requires the ability to have and maintain a current and active TS/SSBI/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

Prior experience and familiarity with DoD, Air Force and/or Intelligence Community resiliency initiatives
Demonstrated ability to develop new and innovative ways to utilize engineering and/or laboratory capabilities in support of program risk reduction
Master of Science degree in engineering, science or mathematics from an accredited institution
12 or more years of experience with increasing responsibilities
Experience in subsystem design, development, integration, test and/or on-orbit operations
