Provide technical leadership, engineering support, and staff development to the Communication Systems Engineering Department (CSED) within the Communication Technologies and Engineering Division (CTED). CSED provides support to federal and commercial customers in the areas of design, modeling & simulation and performance analysis of communication systems.

Key Functions

  • Leading or participating in projects involving:
    • Digital Communication Systems implementation
    • Digital Signal Processing (DSP) studies
    • Software Simulations
    • Hardware Emulations
    • Space and terrestrial communication system architectures
    • Communication Analysis
    • Link performance evaluation
  • Provide project leadership across multiple disciplines, contractors and customers
  • Mentor junior engineers
  • Develop future projects and manage resources


  • Degree from an accredited university in engineering, science or another related discipline
  • 8 or more years of relevant experience in the design, modeling & simulation and performance analysis of communication systems
  • Experience designing, simulating and analyzing communication systems including:
  • Digital Communication
  • Space and Terrestrial Communication System Architectures
  • Link Performance and Channel Modeling
  • Waveform Modulation and Coding
  • Signal Processing
  • Radio Frequency (RF)
  • Networks
  • Experience in the development of program interfaces between hardware equipment, including hardware and software simulation tool problems and simulation environment improvements/modifications for data reduction and analysis
  • Demonstrated communication skills, and the ability to successfully interact with customers, other government agencies, contractor personnel, company management and subject-matter experts is essential
  • Experience collaborating with and leading multi-disciplinary teams that include Aerospace, government and industry representatives in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment
  • Ability to present and communicate project results through briefings and technical reports
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

  • Advanced degree, with at least 12 years of experience in engineering development and acquisition or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, with at least 2 years of experience in engineering development and acquisition, communications, or systems engineering
  • Enterprise level satellite communications risk reduction testing, developmental testing and/or operational testing
  • End-to-end physical layer simulations
  • A Digital Signal Processing (DSP) background
  • Communication systems modeling and simulation
  • Anti-jam designs and analysis
  • Hardware equipment operation and communication algorithms in hardware implementation
  • Experience with RFP/acquisition documentation development and review
  • A current and active Secret government clearance (US Citizenship required) with the ability to obtain Top Secret clearance
