Responsibilities

This position is in the Space Superiority Division working in support of the Air Force Rapid Reaction Branch (SMC/SYR). The mission of the Rapid Reaction Branch is to rapidly prototype, develop, test, train, operate, transition and sustain space superiority and cyber access capability in support of combatant commander urgent operational needs. This position plays a critical role in fulfillment of that mission with a focus on testing these systems.

The selected candidate will demonstrate clear written and oral communications skills successfully applied to technical communications.

This position can be filled as a Level 2: Quick Reaction Capability Test Engineer or as a Level 3: Sr. Quick Reaction Capability Test Engineer .

Key Functions

  • Effectively interact with team members from government, contractors and other FFRDCs
  • Develop software for the testing of quick reaction capabilities (QRC)
  • Execute tests of QRCs
  • Contribute to the development of QRCs
  • Contribute to a high intensity multi-disciplinary customer environment as a team member developing and testing prototypes for satellite communications (SATCOM) and signal processing technologies
  • Develop software tools to enable and facilitate testing of the prototype technologies
  • Adaptability to work with rapidly moving baselines
  • This position requires less than 20% travel. Mission may dictate travel to overseas environments to include the possibility of austere and hostile conditions.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications for Level 2: Quick Reaction Capability Test Engineer
  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • 7 or more years of experience that includes software development
  • Experience with development and implementation of performance tests
  • Experience with developing C, C++, Java, Bash and Python solutions in a Linux environment
  • Experience with production of engineering level documentation
  • Experience with SATCOM systems or digital signal processing
  • Current TS and SCI clearance
  • Ability to travel as needed


Required Qualifications for Level 3: Sr. Quick Reaction Capability Test Engineer
  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • 12 or more years of experience that software development
  • Experience with development and implementation of performance tests
  • Experience with developing C, C++, Java, Bash and Python solutions in a Linux environment
  • Experience with production of engineering level documentation
  • Experience with SATCOM systems or digital signal processing
  • Current TS and SCI clearance
  • Project or team leadership experience
  • Ability to travel as needed


Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • Experience with Linux embedded systems to include driver design, module creation, and interaction with Git repositories
  • Experience building and maintaining virtual machines
  • Experience with low level network stacks
  • Experience applying the Open Systems Interconnect (OSI) 7 layer model
  • Experience with the spiral development process
  • Experience with cloud computing and remote systems (Representational State Transfer (REST) architecture)
  • SY program clearances
