Responsibilities

The Advanced Sensor Engineering Department (ASED) is a group of engineers and scientists actively engaged in developing the next generation of remote sensing systems of national importance. ASED members model system performance, develop and test prototype sensors, explore new phenomenology, and assess the performance of Electro-Optical components through modeling and simulation.

This role can be filled as an Aerospace Senior Member of Technical Staff or Engineering Specialist

Key Functions

  • Advise Aerospace program offices and government customers on remote sensing system and component performance and development.
  • Perform simulations and modeling of sensor systems and remote sensing system architectures.
  • Model Electro Optical sensor performance.
  • Document and present findings to colleagues and customers.
  • Travel as necessary to support customer requirements (


Qualifications

Required
  • Degree from an accredited university in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or appropriate technical discipline.
  • Strong scientific programming skills: C/C++, Python.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • 5 years hands-on experience after obtaining Bachelor's degree.


Preferred
  • An advanced degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience with electro-optical remote sensing modeling and simulation.
  • Experience with programming for parallel processing and GPU applications.
  • Experience with Simulink.
  • Current Top Secret/SCI clearance issued by the US Government.


Required for consideration as an Engineering Specialist
  • Demonstrated ability for leadership and experience mentoring more junior engineers.
  • 8 years hands-on experience after obtaining Bachelor's degree.
  • Degree from an accredited university in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or appropriate technical discipline.
  • Strong scientific programming skills: C/C++, Python.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
