Responsibilities

The Systems and Operations Assurance Department is the source of expertise for Quality and Manufacturing Engineers that provides technical support for the development, evaluation, verification, and analysis activities related to the manufacturing, testing, and integration of space systems hardware. Our approach to Quality Engineering goes beyond inspecting or auditing; it is having a proactive role as early as possible while the opportunity to influence is greatest. We're looking for motivated candidates to join our high-performing and collaborative team to help evolve our capabilities to meet the technical challenges of tomorrow. The position requires a solid understanding of QA requirements and the flexibility to apply fundamental Quality Engineering skills and concepts to a variety of space systems.

Key Functions
  • Develop innovative methods to effectively apply Quality Engineering expertise across entire product lifecycles
  • Identify and evaluate the risks, trade-offs, and mitigation plans for tailored QA requirements
  • Employ a rigorous and methodical approach to the problem-solving and identifying root cause
  • Develop and execute process and product assessments and audits from the planning stage through verification of corrective and/or preventive actions
  • Deliver independent, data-driven technical advice to management and customers through effective verbal and written communication
  • Travel to customer and/or government facilities while representing the company and department in a professional manner


This position is available as an Engineering Specialist or Senior Engineering Specialist.

This position could be filled in El Segundo, CA or Chantilly, VA.

Qualifications

Required for Engineering Specialist

  • B.S. degree in engineering or related field in science from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of technical experience as a Quality or Manufacturing Engineer in aerospace-related manufacturing
  • Experience working with QMS standards including ISO 9001 and/or AS9100
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, bills of material, and nonconformance reports
  • Current or ability to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance (TS/SCI clearance required for Chantilly, VA)
  • Ability to travel to contractor and/or government facilities
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and on teams
  • Ability to lead and/or support multiple projects


Preferred

  • Experience supporting program reviews including PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR, and PSR
  • Experience supporting anomaly and failure investigations including MRB and FRB
  • Experience working with suppliers and subcontractors to resolve technical issues


Required for Sr. Engineering Specialist

  • Minimum of twelve (12) years of technical experience as a Quality or Manufacturing Engineer in aerospace-related manufacturing
  • Experience as a manager or lead in Quality and/or Mission Assurance
  • Experience leading and managing projects and studies
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program offices and customers


Preferred

  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and/or training others
  • Experience with additive manufacturing, prototyping, software quality, or data analytics
  • Ability to pursue and establish new areas of the business to apply and grow department capabilities
  • Current and active TS/SCI clearance
