Responsibilities

Work in a matrixed engineering technical team (e.g. Aerospace, Mitre, CMU SEI, JHU/APL, SE&I contractor, Air Force, and Government Civilian) maintaining program focus and continuity in a dynamic environment while upholding the Aerospace corporate culture and objectives.

This position can be filled as a Level 2: Project Engineer or as a Level 3: Sr. Project Engineer. This position can be located in Aurora, CO or El Segundo, CA.

Key Functions

  • Perform or lead technical design reviews in one or more areas of mission scheduling, key management, enterprise data management, vehicle management and mission situational awareness.
  • Provide independent technical review and assessment on the contractor artifacts including algorithm description documents.
  • Provide technical analysis of software design artifacts including use cases, architecture diagrams, requirements and performance analysis documents.
  • Ability to organize and manage tasking for a small team of subject matter experts and engineers to ensure technical integrity in resolving technical issues.
  • Assess and document technical risks and identify potential mitigations issues.
  • Work directly with contractor, government, peer FFRDC, and other subject matter experts to assess contractor performance, identify programmatic and technical risks, collaborate on mitigations or resolution of technical issues, work with Integrated Product Team lead and Chief Engineer to establish leadership understanding of issues and status.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications for Level 2: Project Engineer
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or closely related field
  • 8 or more years of overall experience with a minimum of 5 years of software development experience, as developer or manager, including experience with DevOps and Agile processes
  • Academic or professional experience with multiple phases of software development life cycle
  • Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to travel at least 3 days once a month (to Denver CO or Clifton NJ)
  • Current DOD Secret clearance


Required Qualifications for Level 3: Project Engineer
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or closely related field
  • 12 or more years of overall experience with a minimum of 5 years of software development experience, as developer or manager, including experience with DevOps and Agile processes
  • Academic or professional experience with multiple phases of software development life cycle
  • Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to travel at least 3 days once a month (to Denver CO or Clifton NJ)
  • Current DOD Secret clearance


Preferred
  • Experience in space systems acquisition is desirable
