Responsibilities

The Project Engineer, Kill Vehicle Analyst will work independently with both internal and external customers and with technical support, as a technical authority, consultant, primary investigator, or project leader. May lead or organize technical efforts or project teams. Interfaces between customers and Aerospace technical and management staff.

Key Functions
  • Assess missile system performance in simulation followed by missile flight test environments
  • Evaluate algorithm performance enhancements through modeling, simulation, & analysis (MS&A).
  • Develop analysis software tools and conduct a range of analysis through the use of a framework of Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) missile system MS&A capabilities including in-house, custom and commercially available/government provided modeling tools.
  • Compare performance assessments of architecture variants and conduct trade studies on specific sensor capabilities, locations, and quantities.
  • Provide independent assessments and lead studies with teams of analysts derived from the most capable government/FFRDC/SETA/contractor sources.
  • Communicate with a broad range of customers, technologists, program managers, and senior leadership
  • Some travel is required.
  • Position is located in Huntsville, Alabama.


Qualifications

Required for Project Engineer
  • Degree in mathematics, physics, electrical engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited university
  • Ability to implement solutions to signal processing problems in languages such as MATLAB, C/C++, and Python
  • Knowledge and at least 8 years of experience with at least one component of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS), BMDS Sensors, BMDS Ground Systems, or IR or Radar sensor performance evaluation.


Required for Sr. Project Engineer
  • Degree in mathematics, physics, electrical engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited university
  • Ability to implement solutions to signal processing problems in languages such as MATLAB, C/C++, and Python
  • Knowledge and at least 12 years experience with at least one component (or similar experience) of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS), BMDS Sensors, BMDS Ground Systems, or IR or Radar sensor performance evaluation.


Preferred
  • An advanced degree in mathematics, physics or engineering
  • Broad range of computer skills/experience including LINUX operating system exposure
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas:
    • Algorithm evaluation
    • Missile System Performance
    • IR or Radar sensor performance
    • Experience with the fusion of RF and EO/IR data
