Responsibilities

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a part time Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) professional under the Security & Safety Directorate. We are looking for an independent individual who can effectively work in a collaborative environment, troubleshoot complex issues, motivate and inspire employees to drive a culture of safety, and work to maintain a safe work environment. This role may conduct training, interface with local jurisdiction, and respond to medical emergencies. The EHS Specialist may inspect fire and safety equipment, and may engage with our company insurance carrier. This position may require out of town travel, not more than 10%.

This is a part time position located in Chantilly VA.

Key Functions

  • Ensure corporate facilities maintains compliance with Local, State, and Federal laws
  • Investigate accidents, initiate reports, and develop corrective action plans
  • Perform ergonomic workstation evaluations
  • Support emergency management
  • Provide various EHS-related training


Qualifications

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, or Safety, 3 years equivalent experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Able to perform light duty tasks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current Secret-level Clearance, OR the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a Security clearance


Preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with EHS programs, industrial hygiene sampling, and/or emergency management
  • EHS-related certifications
  • First aid/CPR certifications
