Responsibilities

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Geolocation Systems Engineer within the Communications and Signal Analysis Department. This position is in Chantilly, VA. The successful candidate will perform systems analysis, modeling and simulations of geolocation and related signal processing techniques utilizing tools such as MATLAB and/or Python.

This role can be filled as an Aerospace Member of Technical Staff or Senior Member of Technical Staff

Key Functions

  • Evaluate and develop signal simulators for geolocation, geolocation solvers, and their associated digital signal processing algorithms.
  • Analyze and simulate geolocation systems.
  • Represent the department and sub-division with technical presentations, oversee existing projects, and the ability to work effectively with our customers.
  • Maintain and version control source-code libraries shared by collaborators within the company.


Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or another related discipline from an accredited university
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant working experience after obtaining a Bachelor's degree
  • Basic experience in numerical methods, numerical optimization, and digital signal processing
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SSBI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain this level of security clearance
  • Effective communication, documentation and presentation skills

Preferred
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university
  • Demonstrated competence in understanding state-of-the-art numerical methods, numerical optimization, digital signal processing, and Machine Learning
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, simulating communications or radar signals
  • Experience with version control software such as git
  • Specific experience in one or more of the following:
    • Signal Detection and Estimation
    • Electromagnetic Signal Propagation
    • Link Analysis
  • Current and active Top Secret/SSBI.


Required for consideration as a Senior Member of Technical Staff
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or another related discipline from an accredited university
  • High aptitude for leadership and ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • 4 - 5 or more years of relevant working experience
  • Demonstrated strength in numerical methods, numerical optimization theory, digital signal processing and simulation
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SSBI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain this level of security clearance
  • Effective communication, documentation and presentation skills


Preferred for Sr. Member of Technical Staff
  • Masters or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or another related discipline from an accredited university
  • Demonstrated competence in understanding state-of-the-art numerical methods, numerical optimization, digital signal processing, and Machine Learning
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, simulating communications or radar signals
  • Experience with version control software such as git
