Responsibilities

Seeking a senior system engineer in support of the Evolved Strategic SATCOM (ESS) system engineering activities including ground segment, space segment, Cyber/Crypto development, and system integration. System engineering support will encompass rapid prototyping and fielding phases of the program, ensuring synchronization of government, segment contractors, terminal, and hosted payload integration plans. Candidate will provide technical leadership in an integrated program office of Air Force, Aerospace, SE&Is, SETA, and contractors.

Key Functions

  • Support the lead system engineer, chief engineer, and integrator with deep understanding of system engineering practices
  • Responsible for oversight of system engineering documents required for space, ground, crypto and acquisition for rapid prototyping and fielding phases
  • In collaboration with the government and stakeholders, candidate responsible for:
  • System requirements and associated documentation
  • Inputs to system integration strategies
  • Products for system-level design reviews
  • Mission trades between segments and external systems
  • Stakeholder interactions (MICWG, ESAC, ESS Space/Ground Forums, etc.)
  • Risks development, tracking, and mitigation plans
  • System-level optimization via trades between cost, schedule, performance, and risk
  • Program IMS development


This position is available as an Aerospace Corporation Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer

Qualifications

Required
  • Technical degree in engineering or science from a recognized institution
  • 8 or more years of experience in system engineering of space systems with increasing responsibilities
  • Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams and program office processes
  • Demonstrated ability in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with Aerospace colleagues, customer, and support contractors
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, team leadership abilities, and a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical ideas both verbally and in writing
  • Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret and SCI


Preferred
  • Advanced technical degree in engineering, science or physics
  • Experience with space system acquisition, RFP preparation, and proposal evaluation
  • Experience with military protected satellite communications
  • Experience with the AEHF and/or ESS system requirements
  • Familiar with Aerospace culture and prior experience coordinating with Engineering & Technology Group (ETG)
  • Active Top Secret/SCI


Required for Senior Project Engineer
  • Technical degree in engineering or science from a recognized institution
  • Experience partnering with Government project or program managers
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and develop innovative solutions
  • History of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with customers
  • 8 or more years of experience in system engineering of space systems with increasing responsibilities
  • Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams and program office processes
  • Demonstrated ability in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with Aerospace colleagues, customer, and support contractors
