Responsibilities

The Integrated Sensor Design and Analysis Department supports the design and deployment of electro-optical sensor payloads for civil, commercial, and national space systems. Our activities include: concept definition and mission-driven design-synthesis of electro-optical space sensors; detailed characterization and performance analysis of visible and infrared electro-optical detector arrays; design, assembly, integration, and test of ground and airborne prototype sensors; high-fidelity modeling and simulation of the performance of both individual electro-optical sensors and constellations of space and ground sensors. This posting is targeted for an electro-optical sensor analyst.

Key Functions

  • Provide electro-optical expertise in the areas of Earth remote sensing and overhead persistent infrared
  • Provide oversight, guidance and technical advice on customer projects involving remote sensing
  • Support the development of new remote sensing concepts with modeling and simulation, including the development of technical performance requirements and in the assessment of proposed designs
  • Work with other engineers as a team member to solve multi-disciplinary problems
  • Interface frequently with program office and government personnel


This position can be filled as an Aerospace Engineering Specialist or Senior Engineering Specialist

Qualifications

Required
  • Degree from an accredited university in mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, optical engineering, aeronautical engineering or another related field
  • A minimum of 8-years of experience post-bachelor degree, either in the workforce or in pursuit of an advanced degree in a related field
  • Proficiency in modeling remote sensing engagement scenarios using radiation transport and scene simulation software such as MODTRAN, SSGM, or FLITES
  • Proficiency using a common processing language (e.g. MATLAB, Python, IDL, C/C++, Fortran) to analyze data and implement solutions to problems in remote sensing
  • Must have a current and active Secret security clearance
  • Must be able to work across organizations and with outside customers to complete technical assignments
  • Demonstrated technical and project leadership experienc


Qualifications for Consideration as a Senior Engineering Specialist

Required
  • Degree from an accredited university in mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, optical engineering, or another related field
  • A minimum of 12-years of experience post-bachelor degree, either in the workforce or in pursuit of an advanced degree in a related field
  • Expertise in modeling remote sensing engagement scenarios using radiation transport and scene simulation software such as MODTRAN, SSGM, or FLITES
  • Expertise in using a common processing language (e.g. MATLAB, Python, IDL, C/C++, Fortran) to analyze data and implement solutions to problems in remote sensing
  • Must have a current and active Secret security clearance
  • Demonstrated experience working across organizations and with outside customers to complete technical assignments
  • Extensive technical and project leadership experience
  • Extensive experience in mentoring junior staff
