Responsibilities

The Cyber Operations and Resilience Department (CORD) provides technical support in researching and engineering cyber solutions for Aerospace internal and external customers in all segments of national security space systems. Support is provided across multiple functional areas to include ground network and space-based systems for multiple mission partners to include Air Force Space Command, SMC Directorates, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, the nuclear enterprise, and Civil Agencies. A primary focus is to support the Space and Missile Center, Air Force Research Labs (AFRL), Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).

Key Functions
• Support test, study and improve mission resiliency for Space Mission Systems from advanced cyber threats
• Develop and test Defensive Cyber Operations tools and capabilities
• Apply standard techniques and procedures to carry out a series of prescribed scientific and/or cyber security tasks
• Participate in risk management activities to ensure cybersecurity risks are evaluated and mitigations applied in accordance with security directives
• Proactively support program management of multiple projects and facilitate in-depth working groups to identify credible threats, relevant vulnerabilities, and assess operational impacts
• Assist in development of mitigating courses of action and creation of comprehensive strategies to include system design modifications
• Closely collaborate with Aerospace, Government, other Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs), contractors, and mission partner representatives

Qualifications

Required Qualifications for Cyber Security Engineer
• Bachelor of Science or technical degree from an accredited University
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance issued by the US government. US Citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
• Five or more years of cyber security/cyber operations experience
• Familiarity with the nuclear enterprise (such as Department of Energy, NNSA, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Sandia National Labs, etc.)
• Familiarity with Industrial Control Systems
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Energetic and self-motivated
• Work well in a distributed team environment
• Strong organizational, time management and project management skills
• Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing organizational need

Required Qualifications for Sr. Cyber Security Engineer
• Bachelor of Science or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar technical area of study
• Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance issued by the US government. US Citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
• Eight or more years of cyber security/cyber operations experience
• Two years or more of experience in support of organizations within the nuclear enterprise (such as Department of Energy, NNSA, Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, Sandia National Labs, etc.)
• Experience in working with Industrial Control Systems
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Energetic and self-motivated
• Work well in a distributed team environment
• Strong organizational, time management and project management skills
• Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing organizational need

Preferred
• Active TS/SCI security clearance
• Advanced technical degree from an accredited University
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) Certification or equivalent
• Experience working with Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC), Space Missile and Center (SMC), Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), or National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA)
• Experience with space systems, including familiarity with space, ground and user segments
• Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) experience
• Familiarity with cyberspace operations planning, war gaming and experiments
• Experience network design and protocols, penetration testing and defensive cyber operations
• Proficient with one or more programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java
• Familiarity with SIEM solutions such as SPLUNK & cloud and cloud applications experience
• Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, including Risk Management Framework (RMF)
