Responsibilities

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Communication Systems Engineer within the Communications and Signal Analysis Department. This position is in Chantilly, VA. The successful candidate will perform systems analysis, modeling and simulations of digital communications systems and signal processing techniques utilizing tools such as MATLAB and/or Python.

This role can be filled as an Aerospace Member of Technical Staff or Senior Member of Technical Staff

Key Functions

  • Evaluate and develop digital communications models and/or digital signal processing algorithms.
  • Analyze and simulate complex communications and/or signal-processing systems.
  • Represent the department and sub-division with technical presentations, oversee existing projects, and the ability to work effectively with our customers.


Qualifications

Required
  • Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university.
  • 1 to 4 years of relevant working experience.
  • Basic experience in communication systems analysis, digital signal processing and simulation.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SSBI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain this level of security clearance.
  • Effective communication, documentation and presentation skills.


Preferred
  • Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university.
  • Demonstrated competence in understanding state-of-the-art communications and signal-processing techniques.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, modern commercial wireless standards and protocols.
  • Specific experience in one or more of the following:
    • Modulation/Demodulation
    • Encoding/Decoding
    • Channel Modeling
    • Receiver Synchronization
    • Link Analysis
    • Practical hardware limitations and distortion effects
  • Current and active TS/SSBI.


Required for consideration as a Senior Member of Technical Staff
  • Master's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university.
  • High aptitude for leadership and ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • 5 or more years of relevant working experience.
  • Demonstrated strength in communication systems analysis, digital signal processing and simulation.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SSBI security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain this level of security clearance.
  • Effective communication, documentation and presentation skills.


Preferred for Sr. Member of Technical Staff
