Responsibilities

The Systems Engineering, Acquisition & Operations Department provides systems engineering & mission assurance expertise to programs of national interest with an emphasis on ensuring the successful transition from development to operations. Our efforts touch nuclear operations, command, control & communications, mission planning and resource scheduling systems, and mission data tools and user products. We couple our technical capabilities in development and test of communications, networked, and software-based systems with our understanding of the operational environment to guide requirements development, integration, fielding, and operational readiness decisions.

This role will provide leadership and technical support to Space Security and Defense Program (SSDP) in the development/acquisition of new Battle Management and Command and Control (BMC2) prototypes/systems. Support Enterprise Space BMC2 (ESBMC2) development programs necessary to realize the Space Warfighting Construct (SWC) initiatives for achieving 21st Century space superiority. Assist the government in acquiring and testing next-generation capabilities by providing programmatic oversight and technical/operational expertise. Work both independently and in teams as a technical/operational authority, consultant, primary investigator, or project leader. Lead or organize technical efforts or project teams, as required. Lead and organize interfaces between the SSDP customer, National Space Defense Center (NSDC), System Program Offices (SPOs), mission partners and Aerospace technical and management staff.

Please note this position is part time, anticipating between 20-30 working hours per week.

Key Functions

  • Provide C2 planning and course of action (COA) development expertise in accordance with the current Adaptive Planning and Joint Targeting Cycle processes
  • Support rapid prototyping strategies aligned to the Space Warfighting Construct (SWC) priorities by providing technical, operational and risk assessments
  • Work across space mission and program boundaries to ensure common program challenges and risks are identified, and appropriate teams are assembled to formulate recommendations to address challenges, risks, lessons learned and engineering best practices
  • Serve as a key technical contributor on space prototype/system readiness review teams and provide impartial technical assessments to decision authorities
  • Work closely and effectively with external stakeholders including other Aerospace personnel, the SSDP program, government personnel, and developers
  • Maintain positive working relationships and customer satisfaction
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of Corporate management through timely reporting of technical issues


This position can be filled as an BMC2 Planner or a Sr. BMC2 Planner.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications for BMC2 Planner
  • Bachelor's or advanced Science degree in an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
  • 8 or more years of relevant career experience, to include background as a space operator with Air Operations Center (AOC) experience
  • A current Top Secret/SCI clearance
  • Previous experience working with senior military or government customers from diverse US government organizations
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively both independently or in teams with the government customers, contractors, other government organizations and Aerospace team members
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • High level of creativeness, initiative and ability to innovate
  • Ability to prioritize effort in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule including occasional weekends and overtime
  • Ability to travel is required


Required Qualifications for Sr. BMC2 Planner
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate discipline from a recognized institution
  • 12 or more years of relevant career experience, to include background as a space operator with Air Operations Center (AOC) experience
  • A current Top Secret/SCI clearance
  • Previous experience working with senior military or government customers from diverse US government organizations
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively both independently or in teams with the government customers, contractors, other government organizations and Aerospace team members
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • High level of creativeness, initiative and ability to innovate
  • Ability to prioritize effort in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule including occasional weekends and overtime
  • Ability to travel is required


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Mathematics, or Science from a recognized institution
  • Air Force/Navy Weapons School graduate
  • Joint Planning experience with a Combatant Command J3/5 or Joint Staff J3/5
  • Air Battle Manager (ABM) experience in the Air Force/Navy
  • SAP/SAR accesses
  • Experience with Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) or National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) programs
