Responsibilities

The Digital and Integrated Circuit Electronics Department facilitates the utilization of electronics in space by the application of industry-standard tools and our specialized resources and expertise to the issues relevant in the implementation of Architectures/chip/board/unit/sub-system/system space-based electronics.

This role can be filled as an Aerospace Engineering Specialist or Senior Engineering Specialist

Key Functions

  • Responsible for the independent analysis and assessment of contractor-produced ASICs, mixed-signal ASICs, FPGAs, and processors utilizing a commercially available cadre of CAD software.
  • Activities include the support of all aspects of ASIC and FPGA requirements flow, design, verification, analysis, and test.
  • Must be familiar with ASIC/FPGA process/flow, design, verification and will support program offices in cooperation with other MTS in the department and in allied organizations within the engineering group and other customers with evaluations of the appropriateness of contractor digital design, test methods/plans and parts selections.
  • The successful candidate is expected to lead design and analysis teams comprised of talent located throughout the engineering group utilizing all computer-aided engineering tools and hardware test and analysis facilities.
  • These activities focus on a variety of integrated circuit and system-level problems, and the interpretation and evaluation of the results are in support of Space Program Operations and National Systems Group Programs as well as Civil and Commercial customers.


Qualifications

Required
  • Degree from an accredited university in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Minimum of eight years of ASIC/FPGA Design experience, process/flow, design, verification.
  • Hardware Assurance experience
  • Ability to work independently & be self-motivated
  • Expertise in areas design/requirements; digital design; mixed-signal design; IC/ASIC verification and fabrication; device testability; trouble-shooting and hardware testing for space applications.
  • Must have good communication and interaction skills and the ability to effectively interface with program offices, contractors, and customer personnel, and lead integrated product teams including contractor and customer personnel.
  • Must be intellectually flexible, appreciative of nuances; be someone who is able and willing to go deep in terms of policy and process and is creative enough to do red-team activities.
  • Must be flexible enough to work at both the component and system levels of abstraction with Hardware Assurance experience/Existing relationships within DoD/National Security of Space Hardware Assurance community.


Preferred
  • Ability to obtain SSBI clearance.
  • Knowledge of the space microelectronics industry with emphasis on the insertion of advanced technologies, as well as Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) technologies into satellite systems.
  • Ability to go deep in terms of policy and process and is creative enough to do red-team activities and flexible enough to work at both the component and system levels of abstraction.
  • Current and active Government clearance.


Required for consideration as a Sr. Engineering Specialist
  • Degree from an accredited university in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • In-Depth Hardware Assurance experience.
  • Minimum of twelve years of ASIC/FPGA Design experience, process/flow, design, verification.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and mentor more junior engineers.
  • Expertise in areas design/requirements; digital design; mixed-signal design; IC/ASIC verification and fabrication; device testability; troubleshooting and hardware testing for space applications.
  • Must have strong communication and interaction skills and the ability to effectively interface with program offices, contractors, and customer personnel, and lead integrated product teams including contractor and customer personnel.
  • Must be intellectually flexible, appreciative of nuances; be someone who is able and willing to go deep in terms of policy and process and is creative enough to do red-team activities.
