Responsibilities

Aerospace's Systems Analysis and Modeling Section within the Engineering Applications Department (EAD) is seeking a highly motivated Algorithm Developer & Analyst to join their team! This section develops a wide variety of software applications, modeling and simulation (M&S) capabilities, and performs quality analyses to support civil, commercial, and national security space customers.

Key Functions:
  • Support a wide variety of space systems customers as both a developer (algorithm and software development) and an analyst (setting up and executing batch simulation runs, custom post processing, drawing trends and insights).
  • Work closely with industry leading engineers and scientists in the development of maintainable, high performance applications and M&S capabilities.
  • Continuous learning in new areas of space programs, missions and analysis tools to analyze complex enterprise-level problems
  • Design, develop, and maintain software for a variety of engineering applications, including technical/scientific computing, high performance computing, simulations, and graphics visualization.
  • Work on teams to help define innovative next generation space systems.
  • Deliver timely completion of developed capability and analysis efforts
  • Deliver high-quality reports and briefings, and present recommendations to customers and Aerospace management.

This position can be filled as an Algorithm Developer & Analyst or Sr. Algorithm Developer & Analyst.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications for Algorithm Developer & Analyst
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
  • Two or more years of relevant experience in algorithm development and analysis
  • Experience with numerical analysis and mathematical algorithms
  • Experience with scripting languages such as MATLAB and Python
  • Experience with batch simulation set up and script development for post processing
  • Experience in C, C++, and/or object-oriented languages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Dependability and good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a team
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks, and be flexible and adaptable to changes in tasking
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, self-motivation and willingness to take initiative
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government. US citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

Required Qualifications for Sr. Algorithm Developer & Analyst
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in algorithm development and analysis
  • Experience with numerical analysis and mathematical algorithms
  • Strong proficiency with scripting languages such as MATLAB and Python
  • Strong proficiency with batch simulation set up and script development for post processing
  • Strong proficiency in C, C++, and/or object-oriented languages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Dependability and good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a team
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks, and be flexible and adaptable to changes in tasking
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, self-motivation and willingness to take initiative

Preferred
  • Advanced degree in mathematics, computer science, or related field
  • Current/active Top Secret/SCI clearance is highly desired
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Familiarity with space architecture and mission areas
  • Experience in orbital mechanics, orbit determination, geolocation techniques, or satellite communications
  • Experience in algorithm development, modeling, and simulation
  • Experience in practicing professional software development processes
  • Experience in data science and/or machine learning
