Position: Courier
Location: ACL Labs; Rosemont, IL. - will drive to all surrounding sites and hospitals in Chicagoland area.
Full Time; Day/PM Shift
~~Main shift is 12-hour shift of 7am-7pm.
~~One day will work a 6-hour shift on 2nd shift.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide prompt, courteous courier service to ACL accounts
- Arrive on time for start of assigned courier runs
- Must follow all safety policies, procedure and guidelines.
- Must be able to complete all required training and demonstrate competency within a reasonable time frame.
- Dress appropriately following dress code guidelines.
- Ensure that all specimens are properly collected, stored, transported and then delivered throughout the route.
- Deliver all reports, supplies, return specimens and mail assigned to the route.
- At all times interact in a professional manner with internal and external customers.
- Interact with Dispatch in a timely manner and keep assigned communication equipment activated and on person at all times except where prohibited.
- Must be able to provide scheduled services and maintain the scheduled route times.
- Must know at least one Monday thru Friday route and one weekend route.

- Be able to learn new routes and or stops independently as business needs change
- Follow all documentation procedures including route sheets, logs, and non-scheduled stop additions.
- Maintain confidentiality in and out of the workplace.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Reports any problems with the clients to supervisor or designee.
- Works well independently with minimal supervision.
- Assists in improving the quality and efficiency of logistics routes, procedures, policies, and processes.
- Must know alternative routes to each stop and be able to make good decisions when to divert from the normal routine.
- Must maintain a valid state driver 's license, with no convictions of DUI/DWI within the last 5 years, no more than one moving violation convictions in the past two years.

- Informs supervisor of major/ or minor mechanical difficulties.
- Ensures vehicle 's fluid levels are satisfactory.
- Utilizes vehicle in a safe and professional manner, and for business purposes only.
- Keeps vehicles clean and well maintained.
- Follows all laws, policies and procedures regarding the operation of a company vehicle, including reporting any accident.
- Notifies supervisor when maintenance is due, or any other mechanical issues.
- Troubleshoot concerns with specimen processing.
- Assist supervisor in the completion of CQI relates tasks.
- Follow all policies and procedures.
- Complete all mandatory competencies at local Advocate site or using ALEX on-line.
- High school education or GED
- Must have at least one year of customers service experience or comparable skills
- Must be able to work weekends.

- Hires after 8/17/2015 • Must be 21 years of age • Valid drivers license with a good driving record • No convictions of DUI/DWI, reckless driving, license suspension within the last 7 years. • No more than one moving violation in the last two years. Hires before 8/17/2015 • Must be 21 years of age or older. • Valid drivers license with a good driving record. • No convictions of DUI/DWI within the last 5 years. • No more than one moving violation over the last 12 months, or no more than 2 violations over the past 2 years.
- • Exposure to infectious biological specimens and sharps are experienced on a daily basis. • Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when appropriate. • Ability to lift (up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds consistently. • Must be able to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner. • Must carry assigned communication equipment during routine working hours. • Must be able to complete all assigned duties independently with in the route and stop time frames.
