Position Summary:

Completes installation of total alarm systems, assist as crew leader or work independently, from start to finish, install alarm systems and/or additions to alarm systems for commercial, residential, and small business. Configure, install, dismantle, reconstruct and program security and fire systems required by the residential/Commercial customer. Lead Installers act in the role of coach/mentor to less experienced installers.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Follows all safety and pre-install requirements such as, water and gas shut off identification, drop cloth use, eye and knee protection, crawl space accessibility, and drilling procedures.
  • Maintains company work van in a clean and organized manner
  • Stocks assigned work van with equipment and supplies to maintain pre-designated inventory levels, required parts, to ensure the efficiency of all installations.
  • Brings all necessary tools, equipment, and supplies to a central location within the client's building or place residence.
  • Drills and cuts holes for building sensors, controls, and all other peripheral devices as directed.
  • Sets up boxes of wire at each sensor, control, and peripheral device locations.
  • Pulls wires in attic or crawl spaces to the main CPU, punch block, installation, splice, and tag point or interconnect location.
  • Run wire under carpet, above false ceilings, fish through firebreaks, etc.
  • Install conduit, flexible conduit and/or wire moldings as well electrical boxes and fittings as needed.
  • Punch down all equipment devices and neatly dress all wires as needed, such as zip tying.
  • Returns all tools, equipment, and unused supplies to the installation van.
  • Ensures client home/business is clean and free of any installation debris.
  • Assist or perform system programming, thorough test of the alarm system, and customer training in the use of all system functions.
  • Locates sprinkler system(s) Shutoff(s) and inspector's valve(s) to be noted in the alarm panel an on the system drawing.
  • Lead Installers may manage installation teams on larger projects.
  • Follows proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures. Tests operation of system to the signal-receiving center to properly establish service. Reads building, electrical and sprinkler blueprints as required.
  • Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles necessary records for notification of emergency calls.



Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position requires no supervisor or manager responsibilities. Tenured employees may act in the capacity of crew leader after a designated period of time, crew leaders have no decision making authority such as hiring, firing, or taking corrective action.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience :
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. And 8 years electrical and electronic equipment experience with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.



Language Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.



Mathematical Skills:
  • Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.



Reasoning Ability:
  • Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.



Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Must possess valid drivers license and driving history must meet company standards throughout employment.
  • Must possess alarm agent permit where applicable and according to Federal, State, and Municipal laws.

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequently must crawl, kneel, crouch, or lay down in tight spaces
