Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform verification of patient insurance benefits and prepare claims for submission to various government and commercial payors
  • Follow up on insurance claim status, resolve denials and rejections, submit re-bills, re-submit claims, and file appeals to facilitate subsequent payment and claims adjudication on a timely basis; working an average of 35 to 60 accounts daily
  • Follow all HIPAA related procedures ensuring the maintenance of patients' PHI (Protected Health Information)
  • Utilize EMR systems such as EPIC, Cerner, AllScripts and others


  • 1+ year performing medical insurance collections for professional or facility services
  • Must have prior experience collecting on Commercial Payors. Additional experience with Medicaid or MCO's is a plus
  • Prior experience following up on claim status, resolving denials & rejections, re-billings, re-submitting claims, & filing appeals
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office Word/Excel/Outlook, payer portals, and electronic medical records (EMR) software
  • Ability to type 40+WPM required (alphanumeric and 10-key typing)
