Our client, an international nonprofit and government contractor, is looking to hire a Controller for their team in Bethesda. This position will report directly to the CFO and supervise a team of 13 with 4 direct reports.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage all accounting operations and financial reporting, ensuring the company is compliant with company standards and government regulations
  • Work with staff to prepare monthly/quarterly/yearly financial statements and budgets
  • Supervise project closeout reporting, including invoices, and support the annual audit
  • Coordinate all government audits
  • Supervise, mentor, and coach accounting staff on proper accounting standards and practices
  • Support the CFO with ad hoc projects and reporting as necessary


  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field
  • CPA preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in for-profit and not-for-profit organizations; a blend of experience is preferred
  • Supervisory experience required
  • USAID experience required
  • Experience supporting audits, developing internal controls, supervising monthly close, project closeout, financial and budgeting reporting
  • Technical Skills: Deltek CostPoint or similar
