Your Mission

Sledgehammer Games is looking for a passionate and experienced Principal Sound Designer to help create a fresh new AAA aural experience for our next project. You will work closely with the Audio Director and play a fundamental role in establishing the core sonic aesthetic of our projects. You will play an integral role in maintaining a quality bar reflective of our award-winning team. You will work with audio department members to give feedback as well as mentor members of our team to help them become better sound designers. You will be involved in virtually every aspect of game audio content development alongside one of the most passionate and experienced audio teams in the industry.

  • Establishment and oversight of the audio aesthetic for all projects.
  • Maintain audio quality throughout the development cycle.
  • Mentor members of the sound department to become the best sound designers they can be.
  • Interactive and linear sound effects design.
  • In-depth real-time audio-control scripting.
  • Audio asset implementation.
  • Mixing & mastering.
  • Field recording.
  • Audio tools & run-time systems design collaboration.

Player Profile

  • Demonstrated creative and technical achievements in sound design.
  • Ownership of several major aesthetic and creative pillars for multiple projects.
  • Minimum ten years of experience in game audio development.
  • Shipped at least five major titles.
  • Fluency in game audio implementation systems.
  • Understanding of PS4/5, XBOX One/Series X, and PC audio functionality, capabilities, and limitations.
  • Experience with major digital audio workstations, and power-user of at least one.
  • Solid understanding of technical audio theory and audio engineering.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional organization skills.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Continuing Education Certificate, Professional or advanced degree in audio engineering, music, or similar preferred.

Bonus XP

  • FPS/Multi-player experience a plus.
  • Experience in game audio scripting or other relevant programming environments.
  • Experience with Radiant game development software a plus
