The Database Administrator I will be responsible for maintaining systems as defined and ensuring their ongoing availability. The database administrator I will understand key aspects of the RDBMS systems to support existing Service Level Agreements.  The scope of responsibility at this level is to understand and maintain a single database product at Accruent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Quickly learns new product platforms and database technologies and teaches others
  • Improves standard practices and procedures within the group
  • Proficient in SQL, T-SQL and Windows Script Host (WSH)
  • Understands the infrastructure environment
  • Develops robust, reusable, global solutions
  • Effective troubleshooter and problem solver
  • Working to obtain deep skill set in relevant DBA areas
  • Voluntarily, independently and successfully leads projects to completion
  • Understands the infrastructure environment and can independently support an application’s database platform
  • Has a proven capacity for execution and delivery of tasks
  • Disseminates technical and functional expertise to peers
  • Capable of teaching classes developed by Principal DBAs
  • Solid competency in backup and recovery options
  • Participates in recruiting efforts
  • Performs database design tasks
  • Proactively seeks training opportunities for themselves
  • Trains interns and new DBAs
  • Can update and enhance the team’s documentation
  • Understands concepts related to database performance and tuning

  • 2-5 years of experience 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with SQL Server in at least one of the following:
    • technical database administration
    • code development, tuning, and design
    • report development and concepts
  • DB Certification in SQL Server (or equivalent experience) is preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven self-reliant, self-starter, and capable of assisting with education of others
  • Ability to reason logically and participate in the development of innovative solutions
  • Project and task oriented with a focus on details

Able to work well within group or individually on project
