Role Summary:

North America Tax Planning Lead is responsible for assisting and leading in a broad scope of tax planning efforts and initiatives that impact Accenture's operations globally. Reporting directly to the North America Area Tax Managing Director, the Senior Manager in this role will work with Global Tax Group teams globally to manage tax initiatives impacting our global legal and corporate structure, address and advise on US federal and state tax matters, and devise and implement tax risk mitigation strategies. Tax planning areas of focus include, but are not limited to: research and documentation relating to tax planning efforts, managing large tax programs impacting North America entities, devising tax strategies to address key risk areas, detailed tax reviews, including review of how transactions are reported on a tax return, and monitoring tax legislation impacting Accenture operations. This role will also liaise with other professionals across the Finance and Legal organizations, and manage vendor relations and communications with tax authorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tax research and documentation: Tax technical r esearch and documentation relating to tax planning efforts
  • Global entity structuring : Design and implement tax efficient strategies impacting US entities related to the optimization of our corporate structure
  • Mergers and acquisitions (M&A): Consult with the M&A Tax Lead and deal team to assess tax implications and recommend tax-efficient planning and structuring strategies on the US M&A business and ensure reporting is compliant with GAAP
  • US tax compliance: Review tax returns for accurate reporting of structuring and other transactions
  • US tax provision: Work with the global tax accounting team to support and document US tax positions
  • US tax audits/tax controversy: Provide strategic analysis and support for US tax audits
  • US tax legislation: Proactively monitor US tax legislation and develop appropriate tax mechanisms to address impact of US legislative issues and ensure corporate compliance

Reports To: Managing Director, Finance, Tax, North America

+ Basic qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • JD, CPA, MBA, or MS in Tax
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in an international tax/accounting environment or professional services firm dealing with tax technical issues

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Corporate tax/Big 4 experience
  • Ability to apply tax technical skills in a commercially effective manner
  • Broad depth of corporate tax knowledge and skills
  • Proficiency in tax research tools and Microsoft Office

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, particularly tax technical writing
  • Strong organizational, project management and problem solving skills
  • Interpersonal and cross-team working skills
  • Self-starter with the ability and confidence to work well in an unstructured, dynamic environment

  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration in a professional setting; either military or civilian
